Some Questions from new players(neewbies :D) vol2

By Ilias Tselios, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

1) Attachement Lightbringer Writes Vigilant. Does the attached character get the vigilant ability? Or is the ability working the sword?

2) Plot Uneasy Truce writes that you every player has to pay 2 gold to his opponent to start a military challenge. Does this effect stack if there are 2 Uneasy Truce in play ? (does each player have to pay 4 gold?)

3) I need some help about a character that has the immunity to character abilities . Since stealth is a keyword , the caracter that is immune can be affected by an opponent characters stealth right?

4) Locations that are attached to houses , still count as locations? What is the poijnt attaching them to houses. And furthermore, can you attach it to your house during setup phase?

Thanks again in advance.

1. The attachment has vigilant itself. You can stand it after you win a challenge as the attacker.

2. All effects "stack", meaning they resolve individually. You have to pay 2 gold to initiate a military challenge (first Uneasy Truce), then you must pay 2 more gold (second Uneasy Truce).

3. Right.

4. If you attach them they're not locations anymore but attachments. The point is to adapt to the situation. For instance, you might not want to attach them while facing a Targaryen player with lots of attachment hate... or you might not want to play them as locations while facing a Stark player who uses The Price of War easily. They cannot be attached during the setup phase because cards' text is not active during setup unless otherwise specified (Limited, Setup keywords). Also, you do not "play" cards during setup: you "place" them.

thank you very much.

Welcome back!

The attachement itself has Vigilant. Otherwise it would say "The attached character gains Vigilant" or something like that.

That's right. Technically, it's two seperate effects. Both have to be met.

I think it's time for you to have a look at the FAQ document for the game. It's a daunting sight at first, but don't worry, you'll get the hang of it eventually. Your question is answered directly in the FAQ (page 8):

(3.7) Card Abilities
"Card abilities" (i.e. "Character ability,"
"Location ability," or "Attachment ability")
refers to anything in a card's text box, except
for traits, keywords, and flavor text. "Card
abilities" also refers to any abilities (again,
keywords and traits are excluded) gained by
card effects

So, keywords like Stealth are not a character ability.

If one of the Chambers is attached to your House card, it counts as Attachment, not as Location. The point is this: If you expect to encounter a lot of anti-Attachment tech, you play it as a location. If you expect a lot of anti-Location tech, you play it as an attachment. If you play with unmodified Core Set decks only, it's a bit safer as an attachment against the Baratheon deck (because of Support of the Kingdom and Fleeing to the Wall), a bit safer as a location against the Targaryen deck (because of Mad King's Legacy, Dany's Handmaiden and Captain Groleo). Against the Stark and Lannister deck it doesn't matter much either way, unless I'm missing something. If you're playing Targaryen yourself, you can use it to trigger Xaro's Home.
