Lions of the Rock

By bbleers, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Does anybody happen to know when Lions of the Rock will be in stores in the States? The website previously said November 21st but now just says on the boat. I assume this means it's coming soon but I have heard about things being late before. I guess I'm just wondering if it will make it before Christmas. Anybody know the status on this?

Last time I heard, mid-December, but that wasnt' in stone. Sorry - I can't even build a deck until it is out it seems, so am in the same boat.

Up until today, amazon.com said Nov 30th. But this morning it was changed to 'Currently Unavailable'. Someone on the cardgame-db website claimed to have official word that the sets where on their way to FFG but gave no supporting documentation so I am skeptical. The owner of the local game store that I play at said that FFG is by far the worst company that he has ever dealt with in regards to getting release dates out. Supposedly they have had so many delays and issues with suppliers in the past that now they just don't give dates so that they don't have to keep pushing the dates back.

The Upcoming page is HIGHLY inaccurate so I would not put too much stock in the status tracking. Case in point: The King's Landing cycle is still listed as "On the Boat" but was delivered to my local game store weeks ago.

Maybe i should start taking bets on which "On the Boat" AGoT product will be in stores first: Lions of the Rock or Defenders of the North

HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING If I was going to odds-maker the arrival of product I would say:

Lions arriving first @ 4/5

Defenders arriving first @ 3/1

Simultaneous arrival: house takes all bets

Over/Under arrival date: December 16th

Does it make me degenerate if I actually considered where I'd put my money on those bets?

I have a friend who was very, very excited about this box set. He has been eyeing information about it for a while and when it suddenly went from November 21st to unavailable he flipped. :D Glad to see some kind of information on here. Hopefully we get more information soon.

...

The revised King's Landing cycle WAS available weeks ago: FFG announced its availability back in October 19th, 2011.
I believe it must have sold like hot cakes, 'cause the packs listed as "on the boat" are the 1st REPRINT of the revised version.

Not that surprising, it was a pretty fantastic cycle, and for me by far the most impossible thing to acquire when getting into the game recently.

Of all the cycles available, this was the one I didn't really miss. I'd much prefer to see the Clash of Arms cycle reprinted than this, and also Defenders of the North (which I know is next). Each to their own :-)

Along with timely A Time of Ravens cycle revised reprint, I preferred A Clash of Arms cycle (white-bordered finally) triplicate reprint over these other two as well.

More frustration.

I have a standing order for Lions of the Rock with my FLGS. I put the order in last week for the Targaryen and Lannister Deluxe expansions. He calls me today, saying that both expansions had just arrived and he was opening the boxes now. I was close by and went to the store to pick them up. Much to both of ours dismay, the shipping container listed both expansions as being inside. However, on the shipping manifest, it said "Lions of the Rock - Delayed or Unavailable". His usual dealer rep wasn't available, and the guy he talked to didn't known anything about it. Oh well. More waiting.

Atleast my wife has a shiny new Dragon deck to play with.

I'm hoping we're not too far away from an announcement for the A Clash of Arms and A Time for Ravens reprints. FFG said there wouldn't be reprints till those cycles were out-of-stock, and I have no idea how close we are to that. Looking at FFG's online store--which might very well be a terrible measure of their warehouse stock--only three packs from those two cycles (War of the Five Kings, A Song of Summer, and The Winds of Winter) are currently sold out.

I think only like 3 packs were sold out for the King's Landing cycle before the new triplicate revised versions were announced.
I'm thinking FFG will not make us wait for the whole cycle to sell out if King's Landing is any indication.

Hmm... my ULGS stopped ordering game of thrones because he's got a ton of acoa and ator packs just sitting there (Around 25-30 total). Granted they were always behind the counter so nobody even knew they were carried. This is the same store that complained when the 6 of us hosted a draft and bought all their packs of A Crown of Suns.

My FLGS can't order things directly, I have to beg the new york branch to send it up to him. So I usually get things a week late, but the product is only for me, so only 1 copy comes in.

Of course it sold out at PAX so I'm wondering if most of the boston players stay at home and order online and don't come to the forums.

Gonna derail this for just a sec:

bloodycelt, are you in Boston? I'll be in the Boston-area for about a month around the holidays visiting the family, and I'd been wondering if there were any groups in the area. I've posted in a couple threads about players in Boston, but no one's responded.

Are they still at full price or have they been discounted? I have been looking for cut rate 40 card packs because I am trying to build a playgroup and many of the old CPs are fine for this purpose (see: Refugees of War).

Last I checked they were discounted to $8, its at pandemonium in cambridge, ma.

Saw it on Facebook. The Lions of the Rock is ready for pre-order today. But still no hard release date. And I'm not liking the Lion's Cunning.

Maybe they cancelled the expansion? (Crosses fingers)

Someone's getting Amory Lorch in his stocking for Christmas.

The latest info I have from FFG said "between Dec 14th and mid January." Mind you, it was a solicitation for multiple items, but at this point I suspect late December or, more likely, mid January.
