Ironically the character I drew to replace him was Kate. It's as if the game was mocking me for picking the one investigator who need not fear being devoured by a gate after the damned thing was already in play.

Our game went similarly Skids got popped by a Devouring Gate early on. We were trying out my Multiple Ancient One varient (see the customs section for more!) and started out with Y'Golonac - and guess who kept finding tomes in the darn common item deck! And then got the Stars are Right Rumor. And after we finally got rid of Y'Golonac, Hastur took his place. Dude woke up with not a seal on the board.

We still amanged to eek a win though, thanks to our careful managing on monsters.
