By monk, in Star Wars: The Card Game

Do you think this game will play well in solo play? I wanted LoTR LCG but was told that it is designed as a co-op game that can allow solo play. Would it worth getting if you would mostly be playing 1 player?

Any info would be great.

Cheers

However, all (fully) cooperative games can be played solo. It's possible, though, that you may have to play with two (or more) decks for it to be fun. If yo don't mind that, there's no reason why you shouldn't enjoy solo play in the Star Wars LCG.

I'm really looking forward to this game because I play a lot of solo games, and I also play with groups a lot too. I haven't had any issues with LOTR solo. It plays well, although any game is more fun to play with others. FFG playtests there games a lot, and I'm sure they'll make sure that solo play will be solid, and fun. Plus being Star Wars, I think they'll be pretty careful to get it done well because it's a franchise that fans are so loyal to. Messing it up would be suicide.

Not sure that anyone officially has said that LOTR is designed primarily as a collective game that can also be played solo. That is mostly what some people have gleaned. I also play solo and enjoy it. It is always easy? Of course not, I think generally, quests become a bit more manageable with multiple players, as you have more flexibility on what you can do with more than one deck. And there are some quests that are insanely tough solo. I would anticipate, and this is just a guess, that Star Wars might offer some of these same challenges to solo players.

Only time will tell, but if you are discouraged from playing LOTR solo, I have a hard time believing that Star Wars will be that much more playable in that mode. It will certainly benefit from the LOTR experience, but it's not as if LOTR is unplayable.

Anyway, playing LotR solo is a completely different play experience from playing it with 2-4 players. It requires a completely different strategy to build decks.

The game also features cards that don't serve any purpose when playing it solo, but not the opposite. Finally the difficulty ratings are mostly meaningless for solo play.
