Looking to find a non-attachment based way to stand a stark location (Gates of Winterfell) to use in combo with Stalwart and Heralds to get off a couple free Chars per marshalling phase. Any thoughts?

Hellholt Engineer is probably your best bet.

Steel Link would also work.

If you want to get crazy, copper link + At Night They Howl would work also. If you're running direwolves already, it could fly.
