Pentos & Flame Kissed

By oshi2, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

If I flame kiss my own Maegi Crone... can i both use pentos to discard the flame kiss and save her, and then also draw a card from the crone?

Not sure what the actual timing is like between discarding as a cost and the kiss being moribund etc. Or if its even a legal save...

I can help you with timing, but I'm not 100% sure on the legality of one step...

Player action: Play Flame Kissed on Maegi Crone

It is played successfully (not saved/cancel)

It reduces Maegi Str to 0, triggering a passive kill effect (from Flame-Kissed).

Save/Cancel Response - Trigger Pentos (Discarding Flame-Kissed to save Maegi Crone). (This is the only step I'm not 100% certain about, because I don't know if Flame-Kissed going moribund:discard allows us to ignore the effect until step 6 of the action window, my instinct says no)

Response: Trigger Maegi. Her strength *was* reduced to 0 (which resolved fully), so you can trigger it. You can do it regardless of whether the above step is legal, because she can still trigger her response while moribund.

I think the only issue here is the legality of the save (as you stated), and my impression is that because discarding the attachment doesn't remove it from play EXCEPT for the purposes of anything triggered by it leaving play (ie moribund rules), the attachment itself is still in effect, reducing Maegi crone's strength and therefore making her un-savable.

Using Pentos to discard Flame-Kissed will never be legal when what you are trying to save the character from is, in fact, that Flame-Kissed.
