Missing Recruit: Reinforcements Any phase: Play if you have lost a challenge this phase. Pay 1 gold to put Missing Recruit into play from your hand as a character with 3 STR,a icon, stealth, and renown.

Robert Baratheon KOTS: Lord, King Renown. If Robert Baratheon is the only King character in play,he gains: 'any Phase: Kneel Robert Baratheon to play an 'any Phase' event card from your discard pile as if you just played it from your hand. Then, shuffle that event card back into your deck.'

Baelor Blacktyde: Ironborn, House Blacktyde Stealth. Opponents cannot play copies of event cards that are in their discard pile.

Fortified Position: Treat all characters in play as though their printed text boxes were blank (except for Traits). Limit 1 per plot deck.

Narrow Escape: Any Phase: Put into play from their owner's dead piles or discard piles all characters that were killed or discarded from play this phase. Any opponent may discard his or her hand of at least 1 card to cancel this effect.

Questions:

1. Can Robert Baratheon play a Missing Recruit from my discard pile? If yes, does it ever get shuffled back into my deck?

2. What effect does Fortified Position have on Missing Recruit?

3. Can Narrow Escape bring a Reinforcement back into play if killed that phase?

4. I have one Missing Recruit in my discard pile, and Robert Baratheon in play. My opponent has Baelor Blacktyde. Can I use Robert to play Missing Recruit? Robert's text says it is "as if from hand" - so does that mean that the card is considered "not in discard" and therefore playable? Or does Baelor not apply, because I am not playing a "copy" of Missing Recruit, but the original card?

5. Dead reinforcements go to my discard pile, right?

You certainly can use Robert's ability to play Missing Recruit from your discard pile, provided you have lost a challenge that phase. As for the other part of the question, it's like this:

When you play an event from hand, it enters a Moribund:Discard Pile state. The "Then" part of Robert's ability is a Replacement effect that changes the event's state from Moribund:Discard to Moribund:Shuffle into deck. But the change of card type from Event to Character on Missing Recruit nullifies the card's Moribund state altogether, because, the FAQ tell us, "Any time a non-character card type becomes or counts as a character, it loses all other card
types it might possess while it is a character." So Missing Recruit stays in play.

2. What effect does Fortified Position have on Missing Recruit?

None whatsoever. The event's text is no longer active once it's a character, and its properties as character are gained, not printed, and thus not affected by Fortified Position.

3. Can Narrow Escape bring a Reinforcement back into play if killed that phase?

No. To be brought back by NE, a card must fulfill two requirements: It must be a character card, and it must have been in play as a character when it was killed/discarded. So no bringing back of Reinforecements or attached banners or Loyal Guards or dudes attached to Jory as dupes.

Baelor prevents you from playing events that are in your discard pile, period. From the phrase "as if in your hand" it clearly follows that the card in question is not actually in your hand (how would it have gotten there anyway?), but still in the discard pile.

Yes.
