Can the "Mutual..." Plots be used in Joust?

By dcdennis, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

I can't figure out if the "When revealed, if you have more than one opponent, choose an opponent..." txt precludes me from using it in joust. Until now we have been using this in joust but I have a hunch that that isn't right.

What is it in the plot's text that makes you think "if you only have 1 opponent in the game, it is illegal to built this card into your plot deck" is the way to read it?

"When revealed..." (choose and reveal this plot card)

"...if you have more than one opponent..." (count the number of opponents you have)

"...choose an opponent. You and that opponent..." (if the number is greater than 1, keep going; otherwise, stop).

There is nothing stopping you from using the plot during a Joust game. There is only text limiting its usefulness when there are fewer than 3 players. Of course, the 3-3-2 stats on Mutual don't completely suck in the absence of usable plot text....

I mis-worded my question, i should have said is the EFFECT illegal, not the card. And you answered that question ty.
