Looking for a Card/Cards

By Theomnipotentsco, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

Hey everyone!

So I had an idea for a deck, however it hinges on one piece, and after wading through the card pool, I'm not sure if the piece actually exists or not. So, I appeal to the deck building community that may know the card pool better than I.

Are there any cards that will return characters of your own back to the shadows to recur their "comes into play from shadows" abilities? Right now I'm looking at any house, though I'd prefer Lannister or Targ.

There's Sister of Truth. You could also use bounce-back-to-hand type effects like Game of Cyvasse, Ghaston Gray or Search and Detain to get your guys back to hand and put them into Shadows again.

You have a couple other choices besides just Sister of Truth.

Probably one of the best Shadows related cards is Blackwater Bay. It allows you to put any shadow card in the discard pile back into shadows. Problem is it's house Bara only (seriously why do the Baratheons get most of the very best shadows cards?) Not sure that it's the best choice for recycling Shadows characters though. It's great for shadows events and attachments.

In house Lannister you can use the KL cycle version of Tywin. Any time you use a challenge he participates in you can take any shadow card in play and put it back into shadows. He sounds like he may be exactly what you are looking for, but it can be dangerous to base a deck around a single unique character.

Out of house Targ you can play Summer encampment with Summer and use the Encampment to return a shadows character to your hand then next round replay him into shadows and pull him out again. Not exactly the easiest of combos nor most cost effective, but doable. To significantly improve this combo play the 1 cost Targ Asshai character that allows you to put a card from your hand into shadows when you win a challenge she participates in. Then you can pull someone out of shows, bounce to your hand, win an intrigue, put the card back into shadows, and then bring it out again when desired. Like all Targ combos requires many pieces to make work.

Syrio maybe?

Hmmm, those are all pretty good suggestions.

Basically my idea was to use copper links to do trait manipulation, make opponents allies, and recycle the KL Varys comes out of shadow effect. I had originally thought of Lannister because the kneeling lockdown would be helped greatly by the recycling of spot removal, and also because they had ways to accelerate gold.

Baratheon might be a good choice to go for as well though, especially with the Black Cells.

hate to be the one to burst your deck idea but that won't work. varys comes out of shadows before you can use copper link. only way to combo varys with trait manipulation is the Bard plot or Rhaegars Harp.

Aww, ok then.

You can bring a card out of shadows in any phase, and Varys' come-out-of-Shadows ability isn't phase specific, so he can do that combo just fine?

You can only bring a card out of Shadows at the beginning of the phase before any player actions can be taken, therefore there is no action window to use the Link.
