Attacking with 0 STR

By Lickitun, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Situation:

player A attacks player B with Intrigue Gambit using "Renly's Courtier" (STR 1)

player B uses event "Forever Burning" making STR of "Renly's Courtier" =0 and do not defends

so 2 questions about what happens next:

1. Does player A wins the battle?

2. If the answer on question 1 is "no", does player A wins the battle if he has "Master of whispers" title?

You need to have positive strength to win a challenge.

If you have the Master of Whisperers title, you add 3 strength to any intrigue challenge in which you have at least one character participating, so in that case you would could 3 strength and win.

so if I have 0 STR as attacker - what happen? nobody wins the challenge? If it is so, can I make one more intrigue challenge this phase? or can I attack this player one more time with battle or power challenge?

If you end up with an unopposed challenge where your attacking str is 0 then there is no winner as you must have at least 1 str to win.

Unless you have an ability that allows you to launch a second challenge of the same type (plot card storm of swords from lords of winter for example) then you have used your one challenge of that type for that round.

Unless there is a card effect stopping you, or you have already used a military or power challenge, you are free to launch any of those as defined by the rule book.

okay and I still don't understand 1 moment:

player A attacks player B with Intrigue Gambit using "Renly's Courtier" (STR 1)

player B uses event "Forever Burning" making STR of "Renly's Courtier" =0 and do not defends

so no one wins the battle

can now player A attacks player B with military or power?

Yes.

Losing a challenge does not stop you from making other challenges (assuming standard requirements are met).

I really wonder what makes you think Player A might not be able to do so. A player may initiate 3 challenges in the Challenges phase, one of each type. They are independent of each other, and the outcome of one does not in any way affect your ability to declare the other challenges.

oh... so if there are 4 players, player 1 can make 3 challenges with player 2? I thought that he can make, for expamle, intrigue with player 2, battle with player 3 and power with player 4..

Nope, you can challenge the same person multiple times in multiplayer games, and it is often an excellent way to rack up unopposed power.

omg we were playing for 2 months incorrect xD
