Daemonhood

By Adaras, in Black Crusade

Hey Everybody :D

I looked around on the forum for it but couldnĀ“t find a thread about it, so here I go

Daemonhood: What book do you think it will come in (the rules I mean) will it be like Black crusades Inquisitorshandbook/intothestorm/ritesofbattle or will it be in a book more like Ascension?

A while ago, before Black Crusade was actually released, there was a thread about possible supplements to the game. I remember that some people, myself included, thought that there would be some kind of supplement similar to Ascension with rules for playing with characters that have either became daemonic or started their transformation into daemon princes. So that's probably how the mainstream line is lying right now.

But its of course possible that we'll never get such rules and that post-Daemonhood games will not be supported.

The only problem is scale, the game as issue with higler lvl monster, higher level NPC means your monters have to have 100+ stats which doesn't work.

That problem is solved by using unnatural stats. There has never been any need for stats over 100.

I'm hoping for rules that lets players play possessed marines (maybe even mortals), but that would probably make it hard to ascend later on.

Not everyone wants to gain apotheosis and become a daemon prince. For some, immortality is a goal, and keeping your mortal body (even if you have to time share it with a possessing daemon) is preferred over totally becoming something that's no longer really *you* anymore. IOW, there are multiple motivations for characters, so I would try to expand the possible "win conditions" at endgame with this in mind.

Indeed.

I can picture a possessed marine leading a black crusade made up of both the mortal followers of chaos and the daemons of the warp. Who knows, maybe the chaos gods can make you a daemon prince even if you're possessed. What do you guys think would happen to the daemon you share your body with in that scenario? Would it be cast out or elevated along with you? Something else?

I'd like a book that focues solely ont he dark mechanicum as well, but I guess that comes down to how much GW will let FFG come up with about something that is very loosely defined int he existing canon.

Honestly,

Daemon Prince characters would be above Ascension level power. I agree with Jackal_Strain, unnatural stats would be used much more than having 100+ stats. Another point is that most higher daemon characters can just make things happen with their psychic powers without failing, look at GUO or the tzeench arch-sorcerers and what not. This totally gets rid of the feeling that the warp is dangerous and puts you on a complete other level. However it does not ruin the game IMO, it just makes you very strong. You would be involved on a much larger scale of warfare...directing conflict across the galaxy...only facing down naval fleets or other very strong librarians or chaptermasters who could confront you...if even that. You would be hunted if found out...also...there is the political skirmishing of the other Daemon Princes and Ruinous powers.

You would most likely be fighting chaos a lot more than the Imperium or other races.
