Hi all,

I have recently got back into table top gaming and bought Talisman about a month ago and love it. I got the grim reaper expansion but feel i need one of the bigger expansions.

My question is, out of the 3 big box expansions which one is best to get? i usually play with 4 or more people.

I am glad that you love talisman.

I don't have the dragon expansion yet, but from the looks and all, it seems that it's the best big box expansion at this moment.

But i think that you can better start with a region first.

Highland adds lots of adventure to the game. lots of different cards. nice balance. And you need to defeat the eagle king at the end.

Dungeon however crawls full of dangerous enemies. it's not really excited to draw cards there. It makes the game faster, and it has a teleportation to the crown of command.

It depends what your taste are..

Yeah i think i might go for the highlands expansion. from what i remember of my 3rd eddition games i always like the mountain region best. i think that and the dungeon came in the same box but i cant remember.

Yeah, the mountain expansion came together with the dungeon expansion box.

I have not travel a lot there, because most characters go to the dungeon if they feel strong enough.

But they are some interesting stuff to get there, plus there is a free spell space there(waterfall), if your craft is high enough.

I am a third edition fan too. But i think that this is the best talisman edition at this moment.

There are so many things added to the game, and it has better rules too

I would also recommend the Highlands. Lots of adventuring and new intresting features, trinkets being one of the simplest way to guide your character to greatness. And lots of new cards. Me and my gaming group has decided to never look through new card decks. We just add them to the game and continue playing which leads to new surprises once in a while. I bought the highland expansions when it was new and has played it a quite a lot but still when we played this weekend two new cards surprised us all. Highland raiders was one of them... nasty card that gave us new raiders to fear since the old raiders has been degraded shamelessly to laughing stock.

I would recommend the Highlands as well. It has a lot of great cards to encounter and is a really great expansion to get your feet wet into the larger expansions. It was the first one I bought after buying all of the smaller ones first (my local game shop was going out of business and I was able to get all three smaller ones for a large discount).

I have liked all of the expansions except for the dragon one... I must be in the minority here.

Not to worry, pretty much all of the expansions are good purchases! I particularly like the Grim Reaper expansion the most. When you play WITHOUT the add on boards, "Death" really begins to cramp peoples' styles. >
