Non Damage done, no damage recieved

By Night7, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

I had a curious event the other day while playing. I was playing with Michael McGlen, and due to some events I’m weapon less and I had to fight a monster. The thing is that the monsters combat rating reduced my dice count to 0, but the monster only did 1 stamina point of damage, and as Michael reduce the stamina damage by one, we entered an infinite loop in which neither could die.

Can this happen?
Is there a rule that says what you have to do in this case?

Thanks && Regards,

Tibs'd say you go uncouncious.

If there's no way out of an infitine loop, you go insane. In this instance, however, you would be able to end the loop by Evading the monster.

Why? You're only supposed to make a horror check once.

It was ruled that in case you cannot (lack of dice) defeat a monster, nor the monster is able to defeat you (you reduce the stamina loss taken every round) and you cannot evade the monster, then the combat ends with the investigator insane

You get insane because fighting over and over the same monster without injuring it makes you crazy :D

Then monster should be excorted to the asylum too.

We used to joke while playing Mansions of Madness that monster should pass Horror check when Gloria Goldberg enters their rooms.

I used to say that the combat ends with no effect if you're unable to win, lose, or escape. FFG later ruled that you go insane.

You go insane from the infinite tedium I guess.

The monster doesn't go insane because it's a monster. It doesn't have a human brain.

Why? She's not that powerful.

I think if an investigator fought a monster for a extended period of time, it would result in the investigator's mind snapping not the monster's...

New to the people joking, eh?

I'm sorry, I meant no offense. And please excuse my poor humor. I am merely a teenager that has not developed the conversational skills needed to make clever jokes and one-sentence quips.
