Diligent Study - Art

By Tiziano2, in CoC General Discussion

I'm late with my usual offering of new card art, sorry! I've been very busy painting and getting ready for Castle Stahleck this weekend.

Here is my piece for 'Diligent Study', with many thanks to a special model, the very talented artist and all around nice guy Illich Henriquez.

As usual, click to see in bigger size, please.

Great art as per usual, Tiziano.

Though I must confess I am having trouble finding any easyer eggs which I have become accustomed to when checking out your art.

Maybe it's something to do with the little figure in the foreground? We don't really have that good a view of him though.

One odd thing though is that he appears to be in Central/South America from the look of the pyramid and landscape, but that asylum pack has been released already. I'm guessing that this must be from Shadow of the Monolith then, and he's actually in the South Pacific. However, the little figure looks vaguely Aztec-ish or whatever to me. Certainly it doesn't resemble a Moai or that sort of thing at all.

Thank you both :)

Hellfury you are right, the briefing I got for this one didn't give me much space to place Easter eggs in it, something 'Easter-eggish' for the historically inclined is the little open notebook near the drafting table. The writing on it is taken from a manuscript from 1566, by Diego de Landa.

looking forward to your reaction to the Easter eggs I did put in upcoming cards. :)

dboeren , 'Diligent Study' came out in 'The Breathing Jungle' Asylum Pack, the art is indeed set in Meso-America . I'm not allowed to post art for not-yet-out cards, unless they are spoilered by FFG.

BRilliant as always... though he seems particularly at ease for someone studying diligently. ;)

My mistake then for not recognizing it. I only just got the pack recently and haven't played since then.

Glad its not just me then. I used to be so good at finding Waldo. I thought I might have been losing my touch.

I tried to check out the manuscript but am not able to make out many characters at the resolution and size. I doubt would have been able to recognize it even if it was something I was familiar with.

I was thinking for a second that the diagram on the mapwork might have had something cryptic. The "Eldersign" from the Simon Necronomicon:

I think this was just me superimposing my own attempt to find something meaningful in it though. Looking at both I think it was indeed just my own fancy.

Speaking of elder sign: try looking between the statuette and the crayon box... gui%C3%B1o.gif

I thought I saw a bit of it on the book, but I couldn't see the brilliance of it until I enlarged it. Nice carry over sir, I salute you?

Well, that does explain why the heck he is so relaxed. I would be too.

My eyes must be old. I don't see anything specific between the idol and the charcoals/pastels (whichever they are)

Look at the right side of the lower book. You can see part of the Elder Sign on the cover. Turning up your monitor's brightness may help, it's printed rather faintly.

That was the part I saw... but if you enlarge the picture and follow the lines of the Elder Sign on the book, you can see that they carry across on the desk itself even more faintly.

Thanks again, Tiziano! gui%C3%B1o.gif
