BSG pun in The Achillus Asault

By Agrivar, in Deathwatch

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this before, but while reading the chapter dedicated to the Orpheus Salient in "The Achillus Assault" book, I noticed a reference to a mysterious tyranid ship dubbed "The Rebirth Vessel", whose function is unknown, but some Magos Biologis theorize that it could be a brood ship especialized in growing tyranid "character creatures" that are brought to life retaining all their previous memories before they were slain.

Don't you think that the name and function of this vessel is very similar to those of the "Resurrection Ship" of the Battlestar Galactica TV series?

I can't speak for the name, but the idea of Tyranid unique characters being the same creature resurrected over and over again has been around for awhile, long before FFG got their hands on the property.

Yeah, that part reminded my of the resurrection ships of the Cylons too. But I do not know if it was intentional or not.

The specific mention of a vessel , particularly one called the Rebirth Vessel, I imagine is meant as a deliberate reference. However, as said, the idea that special Tyranids might be "resurrected" in a form has certainly been implied as a possibility, if not explicitly stated, for quite some time.
