Return to Mirkwood

By lleimmoen, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

FFG only prints the English cards, the foreign publishers translate and print their own versions (the German cards have a different coating for example as well as a couple of translation errors and inconsistencies)

Ok, so if that's the casem how come the French one's always seem to get spoiled first? It just seems logical to me that if the English version is the first available, it should also be the most likely to be spoiled first. Or is that just crazy talk?

If you haven't noticed, all versions are released at the same time (more or less). This means French, German and Polish translators must see the cards MONTHS before the release date.

My Ebay seller just reported that they have received their copies of Return to Mirkwood, and they say the official release date is Monday. Sweet!

Excellent news. Monday is an off day for me so I will be calling my local shop and showing up at 10 AM!

Just looked at the spoilers. Good times. Tactics is going to be a wrecking crew. Which indicates that some nasty stuff is coming in Khazad Dum and beyond. We'll be wishing all we had to deal with was Hill Trolls.

Darn! That eagle is a wrecking crew. A 2/2/2 ally with 4 HP plus an ability that can power up his attack and defense for a cost of 4? That's plain nasty.

The new lore ally that can ignore an enemie's defense can be very interesting too. Find some ways of powering him up (shouldn't be too difficult) and voila! A lot of enemies going by the wayside with just one atacker.

Allies who cost 4 tend to be really good - think about Faramir, Tracker and Haldir. So far only Tactic sphere did not have such card

What, you hating on Beorning Beekeeper gran_risa.gif ? Bouncing Descendant of Thorondor can work.

Getting it next week would be nice, my brother will be in town for Thanksgiving and he enjoyed the game when I showed it to him over the Summer. Plus it will help console me over the Lord of the Rings Heroclix not coming in next week like they were supposed to.

The french board NEVER spoil a card that FFG didn't spoil before... One exception : the name of "Dain II Ironfoot" as the hero of the last pack of the cycle.

Return to mirkwood have been exceptionnally offered to every player who came to the french distributor convention and participated to the little tourney organized with the french version of "Massing at osgiliath" which was offered to the players too.

It is a player who won that pack that day that spoiled the Return to mirkwood pack...

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification Shivan.

Return to Mirkwood is shipping. Just got it today from a preorder from Amazon.

Just get some info from the guy who have already RTM. There is 4 Quest cards like in Osgiliath. Sound Cool!!!

A thought to Dain:

- if you attach UC

- and attack with dain.

And then ready him with UC after declaring him as an attacker (but before counting the strength - afaik is there an action window) his bonus counts also for himself or doesn't it?

He is a Dwarf and he is ready. Those are the only 2 conditions, so yes he should get the bonus as well.

But then, as soon as he exhausts to do something with that willpower, he will lose the bonus.

You exhaust Dain to the quest...
You ready Dain with the attachement that works perfectly fine... He is still committed to the quest.
Dain effect applies and he gains +1 willpower to the quest...
I think it's cool

I went by my FLGS today to see if they've gotten it in, but they were re-carpeting the place and the store was closed!

Dain looks like he'll flat out rock the Dwarves and there are more nice goodies for the Eagles too.
