do any of you use mammoth riders in your decks? if so do you find that they playtest well? what is the best situational use of them?

I don't think I've ever seen them used to break a game, but they're not a complete dead loss.

+ Fear of Winter to mash through a big dumb Military Challenge has been pretty unpleasant in the past.

+ Fortified Position to ignore their drawback and let you swing with them for two turns is similarly entertaining.

I think they're utterly useless. A mind-bogglingly bad card. Basically, you get to pay 3 gold to prevent yourself from playing any events for the rest of the round. I'm pretty sure there's better choices for *any* deck.

Not sure I agree with that assessment. While I don't consider them a good card, they aren't terrible; could see good use in a deck that doesn't run a lot of events, or in a Targ deck that uses Ambush since you can still put cards into play after playing them.

I've not playtested this card, nor have I seen it played by anyone. I do agree that it's a weak card and, with any deck I can think of, there'd be cards I'd rather have in. I think this one is confined to the wildling theme decks.
