Basestar Bridge and Strategic Planning

By winstonsmith2, in Battlestar Galactica

We played with the Cylon fleet board last night for the first time and a question came up about the dice roll to move the Jump/Pursuit track.

Can a human and/or unrevealed/infiltratting cylon player play "Strategic Planning" or "Calculations" to affect the dice roll?

Humans and Unrevealed Cylons alike can play Skill Cards for their value as well as their text ability. Both players are considered Human as long as they are not Revealed Cylons. This counts for Cylon Leaders as well, infiltrating or otherwise.

Revealed Cylons can play Skill Cards for their numerical value alone, they do not get the benefit of playing Skill Sards for their text ability, ever. Therefore, Revealed Cylons don't get to play Strategic Planning to reroll a die.

When Skill Cards are played into a Skill Check, it is assumed that all cards have been played by a Human player and their effect on this Skill Check (if any) is resolved. This includes Skill Cards being played face up into a Skill Check as part of an Investigative Committee.

Short answer to the original question is yes, Humans can play cards to affect the die roll. And it is probably a good idea most of the time too.

My thanks to you both.

Yeah we usually save our Strategic Plannings specifically for that roll. The 1-3 is often devastating, while the 4-8 effect is blank once the fleet board has already dumped the ships over.
