Taking Care of your beloved beasties! (And bending the gits in to shape.)

By Chromatism, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hey Everyone!

Back for another question, and this time somewhat less sleepless and delerious ;)

My first game of Descent will take place tomorrow... and I have to say, I find it rather sad that it's been the highlight of my week so far! But then again, when I finally get to doing some downright devious OLing (I hope) it might just be justified...

But my question is this: The copy of Descent I picked up was sadly the one in my local hobby shop that's been there for over a year. That wouldn't be a problem, but one or two of the plastic figurines are a little warped. Not overly, but just enough to slightly overbalance and generally annoy me rather profoundly!

I'd just like to know if anyone else had this problem and if I can resolve it with the standard warp up in warm water, followed by a well deserved cold dunk for their unwillingness to conform to my dark and no doubt evil will! The reason I ask is that the figures have a slightly more 'Resin' like feel, and I just want to make sure I'm not going to naff anything up.

Many thanks! And cheers - Chrome

Did it to mine several times and works perfectly!!! gui%C3%B1o.gif

Lol. Cheers Ayora! All I needed to know.

All I needed to know. Time to give them a body warping experience... Cheers again!

Hello all (first post here!)

I just got to grips with the contents of my Descent tonight, same problem, but the warped bases were easily fixed. I have an electric hob and used the following solution - fold over a sheet of A4 paper, then place your miniature on top, then place that over the hob on a VERY low heat. It helps if you actually turn the hob on, then off again and leave for a while so it's just 'hot' rather than cooking temperatures. This heats up the base until it gets floppy, then you can simply stand it on a flat surface and it will cool down perfectly flat. I find this more reliable than bending and it saves you having to warm up the whole figure. You can also do a few at a time. However it obviously requires a lot of care and constant observation, otherwise you'll end up with a melted miniature or a house fire!

Anyway, the brunt of my query is as follows - I got 20 heroes, but two are 'Steelhorns', and I got no 'Trenloe the Strong' which was a bit disappointing :( I've sent an e-mail to Customer Services asking if I could post the extra Steelhorns back in exchange for a Trenloe, so am keeping my fingers crossed. Has anyone heard of this happening before? A cursory search of the forums didn't reveal much!

It's not unheard of. FFG Customer service should have no problem taking care of it

This one made me think: does anyone knows how good is the customer service for countries other than USA, if there is one at all?

I'm in the UK and they sorted me out very quickly, all the way from the US.
