Hyrda spell + shatter clarification please

By xGorath, in Talisman Rules Questions

My group of 7 were playing a game.

Player 1 cast Shatter, targetting Player 2's talisman. Player 3 cast hyrda spell, adding all players to the effects of Shatter.

The playgroup entered into two camps,

1) all shatters targetted Talismans for each player, whether they had one or not

2) all new copies of shatter enter the stack as new objects, and new Object targets are declared for each copy of Shatter entering the stack.

We put it to a democratic vote which was 2, which was my view also. But there is one right answer i am sure.

For number 2, Player 1 selects targets for each copy of Shatter.

Any help to clarify?

Maybe because me above post was not clear, my understanding is that the owner of the original shatter decides on the target object of each copy of shatter. It does not have to be the same object as declared prior to another player interrupting with Hydra Spell. Some wanted the Hydra Spell to blow up everybody's Talisman, but I argued that Shatter's owner could actually pick a new Object target for each new person affected by the Hydra'ed Shatter.

Player A casts Shatter on player B, declaring the Talisman as the Object to discard. Player C casts Hydra Spell on the Shatter Spell and decides that Shatter will also affect players A, D, E, and F. Player A decides which Object is shattered for each player, including his own character lol
