GTG Games & Hobbies now has an active AGoT community and is seeing casual play on almost every day we are open and we are now running organised events at least once a month. We are based on Stoke on Trent and would love to see new AGoT players from around the Midlands.

We have a joust event on Sunday 6th November (short notice I know, sorry).

The event starts at 12 midday promptly so please arrive for around 11:30am.

It will be run over 4 - 5 rounds depending on attendance, entry is £3.

Since the new game night kits have not yet appeared rather than playmats and such the first prize will be a chapter pack of choice or next one released FoC, we also have a few trinkets for random players.

We have a melee event on Sunday 20th November using Kingsmoot rules.

Event starts at 12 midday so please arrive for around 11:30am, entry is £3.

Number of rounds and prizes etc TBC.

In December we have one event on Sunday 18th. This appropriately titled 'Winter is Coming' event will be our biggest event yet.

Prizes include:

Core Set for 1st, Chapter Pack of choice for 2nd and random prizes of The Iron Throne glass stein and vol 1 of The Art of Ice and Fire book.

This event will be a mix of joust and melee with overall points determining placement. Each entrant must play the same house for both melee and joust although the contents of the deck, plot deck and agenda can be completely altered.

The event starts promptly at 12 midday and entry is £5.

I'm interested in coming up from London. When will the tourney finish?

I'm a long time CCGer but new to AGOT and this forum. I'm definitely interested in participating in some of these events. Is there much of a scene in the Midlands (or the UK in general)? I'm based in Coventry.

I have a friend who might be interested too.

There hasn't been much of a Midlands scene as far as I know. I think the guys hosting these things have starting doing stuff fairly recently, although I've struggled to find information. Completely missed the Joust tournament

I'll definitely be trying to make it along to at least one of the other two though. If anyone's ever looking for a game in Nottingham, I know a shop that sells chapter packs/has space for gaming, although there aren't enough local players for anything as organised as a tournament.

Both of the November events went very well. I haven't got reports for them sorted yet due to busy work schedue and other great excuses.

Quick summary;

The Joust event was won by a Greyjoy Choke deck running no agenda and Fear of Winter as its restricted card.

The Kingsmoot melee was won by a Targaryen Dragons deck with Heir to the Iron Throne agenda and Fury of the Dragon as its restricted card.

Thanks to everyone that came along to these and I will try and get a more comprehensive report written in the near future.

We had a good time at the tournament at GTG in stoke - It was quite a long all day event, with plenty of memorable plays and sometimes absurd circumstances. Some of the highlights included:

During the plot phase, one player revealed "outwit", while the others all revealed "summoning season". The baratheon player (who revealed outwit) gave each player around the table a clear royal command - pick me or i'll cancel your summoning season. Not wanting to get no benefit from their own plot, each player did indeed choose the baratheon player for summoning season. The best thing was, as outwit is a response, they couldn't even lie their way out of the deal without getting cancelled. It was one of the more unique uses of that card.

Another high point came at the end of one game, when the Targaryan Player (with 14 power on house) needed to win a power challenge in order to get both 15 power and move from 2 to 4 titles and win the game. However, when the timing rules were looked up, it became clear that as soon as he claimed the power from the challenge, his power total would become 15 and the game would end, giving his opponent the win (the titles change hands after stealing power,) as he still had 4 titles. However, the fates were indeed smiling as the Dragon players plot for the turn was Valar Morghulis . This mean that with claim 0, no power was stolen, but the title of lord of the iron isles changed hands, with the power for unopposed challenges being awarded after that securing a win.

Bonkers.

Thanks to the guys at GTG in Stoke, and we hope to see more people at the store for future events. Winter is coming is the next big event on 18th Dec, and it's going to be a truly epic day.

And remember - Fire cannot harm the dragon...

Not to mention the absolutely EPIC game where the Greyjoy Maester deck reached about 19 Power, but had 1 chain left on his house card (having forgotten to attach on 5 occassions) and his only Maester dead.

On the plus side, it left the rest of us plenty of time to go and get lunch...
