Please feel free to play Condemned by the Realm

So a lot of the new melee cards seem pretty strong, but to me many of them just scream "target."
We already have a few cards that are marked for death as soon as they are played in melee (Reek, for example) and the new Doran and new Euron look like they have the same effect. Obviously if all players in a melee are running such characters it might be hard to decide who is the biggest threat, but does anyone else think these guys are a poor way stay under the radar in a melee?

Interesting question you raise.

Maybe these new super dudes will take heat off of the Dragons always being a target of choice?

Except that both of the characters you mention have Noble crests, so you could get hosed if someone plays Power of Blood.

The topic was just an example, and I doubt that anyone is going to start running Power of Blood in their melee decks if they weren't running it already (Doran doesn't even have Renown). The point I was making is that in melee many players adopt a strategy of "don't be a target because you are too strong, and don't be a target because you are too weak" and some of the new melee-centric cards work in direct opposition to that strategy. If a Martell player puts out Doran, will it be incentive for everyone else at the table to avoid attacking that player, or will it be incentive for everyone to work together to get rid of Doran? If you don't like the Doran and Euron examples b/c they have a Noble crest, consider the new Arya instead.

What? The new Arya with a noble crest?

Lol, does she? I didnt look at the card before the last post.

Here is the thing, that character may have a target printed on it for character hate effects, but does he serve the purpose of making people not attack you for a turn or two until they can get rid of him? Could that character hate have been directed at someone who is more integral to gaining that 15 power?

Doran and Euron are more about discouraging someone from attacking you than they are about gaining the 15 power. If they have other people to attack I assume that most people would choose that other player until they have a way to remove Doran/Euron, etc. If that is the case, then it has done its job.
