Discussion: Void Patch- who will you be running?

By Teric Aylor06gt, in UFS General Discussion

I'll start this off...

Gosh I like alot of the Void Characters, Akuma, Zhao Daiyu, Basara, Sakura, Jivatma, the list goes on. I will probably play either Akuma, or Jivatma not really sure though. There are alot of characters that are pretty neat, and since there is no Olcadan's this format it wil be interesting to see what people come up with. I think this will be one the more enjoyable patch tournies and honestly the one I've looked forward to the most.

So best wish to all, and lets discuss here gran_risa.gif

As of now, Akuma-starter is my choice.

Ways of Punishment will be in every deck, Counter-meta it!

Counter-meta would be likely in Set 12 though, so we can't exactly plan for it now.

The winner of any Void patch will be the one who most plentifully and skillfully draws cards to counter the discarding. Basically, whoever has the most High Tides. My money's on Sean with his pseudo-8 handsize.

EDIT: Scratch that, forgot about White Gi. Whoever has the most White Gi will win. So probably Sakura. Both the draw power and momentum generation of White Gi will be the pivotal points in the tournament.

i'll most likely be running Sogetsu, Jivatma or Sakura for the Void event, though unless i can pick up some more White Gi i'll probably be going with Jivatma for his built-in damage pump... maybe i'll try something with ToS just to mess with the people who loaded their decks with draw power >_>

I am going to have a Zhou Dhyou deck for someone to use if they cant build one . I think her and pigeon games is pretty dumb and she still gets free momentum with white gi .

I built the most awesome block 2 standard deck for a friend that I can't tell you people about cause it will totally ruin the surprise. Needless to say, the deck is pretty sweet and totally anti-meta (and if Abelia's Friendship is in the Feb. prize support package, it get's even better). When our event is over I'll tell you all how it did ^_^

My deck? I built a basic Basara deck. I'm just going to be really annoying, keeping opposing TWoP, Tendon Strengths, Vast Resources, and Contemplations off the field using Basara, Marksman, and A Beautiful Shadow. I don't really care about the patch events since even if I had all 13 I wouldn't bother going to the event.

I thought abelias friendship was already out? ive got 2 sitting in my binder as of right now.......are they going 2 send it again in the prize support?

I have no idea who im running though theres already going 2 be a zangier and a jivatma so ill probably find someway 2 get around those characters because ive never played void before and i have been playing since the beginning

I shall be running promo Ken. O yes...he is quite fun to play ^_^ No ready fondations for my oppoent...o yea..quite fun indeed.

Which Ken doesn't have Void? As far as I can see all 7 do.

If your patch is block 3, I really hope you're waiting until March to run it, or else the only way around Ways of Punishment is No Memories/Evil Doer Destroyer, and all the other discard abilities have free reign to rickroll you.

If it's block 2, then you're fine.

Chun Li will be strong, as she can not only build and discard her opponent's hand on their own turn [even though Tendon Strength, sorta -- pile tokens on TS and they lose their hand at the end of the turn], but also build momentum with Throws to use in a powerful/multiple attack on her own turn.

Seichu Ryu is probably going to randomly kill people.

Chun-Li is stronger in Air and Water than in Void due to momentum generation being scarce in Void, so I don't think Chun-Li will be there in droves. There will be the occasional discard Chun-Li, but without card draw (insert Sworn Vengeance) there's not that many cards you can make the opponent discard without having terrible diff/control ratios (An Efficient Method to Slay People is not actually that efficient, but at least it doesn't cost a card from hand).

I see Jivatma, possibly even Lizardman, Sogetsu or Zhao Daiyu with more possibility than Chun-Li.

if i was going i would run heavy discard starter akuma with ryu's shin as my kill card. sadly i won't make my void event. i think new dhalsim will be a sleeper.

Chester the "mmmm free momentum to spinning beat" molester all the way.

Vast Resources, Aquakinesis

On the other hand, it's not like anyone can't just do Neck Choke + Ways of Punishment to rip your hand on your own turn.

Starter Akuma seems better and better the more I think about him. He does *** just as well as anyone, but he can Roam your No Memories and then rampage on your staging area to take out every other threat you have; defensively, his E is one of very few (IIRC) commit effects that works on the opponent's turn, giving him another defense against *** [along with Tendon Strength and No Memories]. His hack turns 5HS dudes into helpless mewlings, or at least disables them long enough to establish dominance over the game. Itizgud

Void's card draw abiltiies are much stronger than I realized -- Vast Resources

I thought you meant the huge ass tourney being held at the FFG HQ which is in April (thought THAT was the Void patch event - guh)... in which case, carry on.
