various n00bish rules questions that came up recently

By finitesquarewell, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

(1) threat from the east: if one of the players is not able to do the first part of the passive effect chosen, do the other players who were able to do the first part of the passive effect chosen still get to do the part after the "then?" example: i have five cards in hand, opponent has two. i play threat and choose that we both discard three at random, and then draw three. my opponent discards only two, and thus does not get to draw three; i discard the full three cards. the opponent definitely doesn't get to draw the three cards granted by the "then" part of the effect; but do i? do both players have to meet the condition before the "then" for both players to be affected by the condition after the "then"?

(2) can meera reed blank the text of a house card? if so, what happens? my guess is no, something along the lines of the house card being a representation of your house which isn't embodied in text... but i'd like to be certain on this, given that a house card is in play.

Hi Erick

1) as far as I know, restrictions must be met by the 2 players to let the Then effect part works.

2) yes Meera can blank a House card, because it's not a plot and according to rules, House cards are considered to be in play. It has no incidence except for the Neutral house card, which is very strange to me because it has a text

1) came up just a bit ago on these forums - the consensus was that ALL players need to complete the first part for ANYONE to be able to do the second part.

2) Blanking the Neutral house card sounds like a lot of fun.

And yes, Meera can blank House card, but it has absolutely no effect on the game, other than the "Neutral Faction" card, because there is no effective text to be blanked. Remember, the affiliation of the House card is not actually part of a text box to be blanked! So blanking a Stark House card does not stop the player from being a Stark player.

Total screw to Neutral Faction, though, because it effectively ups the gold penalty on any affiliated card they want to Marshal.

Actually, I remember it as a ruling from Damon that pretty much reversed the way it had been played to that point.

This doesn't blank the Knights of the Hollow Hill giving your house card +2 to Gold, Initiative, and Influence either because that are gained and blanking a card does not blank gained properties.

Any chance of an errata, because this seems like huge collateral damage...?
