Suppressive Fire Question

By moepp, in Black Crusade

Allright, having read the rules for suppressive fire, there´s one sentence in the rules text where I´m not quite sure what to make of it.

"Use of the Suppressive Fire action does not affect the defensive benefits of armour or cover."

What exactly does that mean? 0 pen and cover doesn´t get damaged? I´m entirely in the dark here.

I guess that they mean that cover and armour works exactly as usual both for you and your targets. No idea why it is neccessary to point this out though. Maybe some other attack action (or a now deleted trial rule) modified cover/armour behaviour. Maybe they wanted to point out that you can still hide partly behind your cover while spraying bullets...
