what happens when you try to grapple someone using a Magical or Psychic Shield?

as essentialy when you attack someone using such a shiled - you always hit, it's just that sometimes you hit the shiled and sometimes you hit around the shield and hit the defender directly

so what happens when you hit the shiled (i.e. the defender beats your attack roll with his Magic/Psychic Projection) while trying to grapple someone?

1 - do you grapple the just shiled and can deal damage to it (with the possibility from Game Master's Tool Kit of starting to crush it).

2 - or do you grapple your whole opponent and he's still immobilized in some degree (suffering penalties) but any damage you deal needs to go through the shield first?

3 - or such shileds just don't work vs. grapple?

4 - or shileds make you immunie to grappling attempts?

None of the above. If they beat your grapple attack roll with magic projection, it is a miss that does your base reduced damage to shield(unless you can't damage the shield due to some being immune to non energy damaging attacks).

Same rules apply to disarms and takedowns.
