Hulking for Ork Freebooters, not worth it?

By Dark Bunny Lord, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

Ok so I have an Ork Freebooter PC in the game I'm running and he's compained that, asside from fluff reasons, the Hulking talent is not only expensive it's basically useless and more of a weakness than a benefit.

By this I mean the Hulking talent gives very little, that is if you look at "just" the talent and not the mutation (note the talent isn't shown under talents either, you hav to go to Advasaries and Aliens traits to even find the **** thing).

In short it costs 300 exp to basically give all of your enemies a +10% chance to hit you, loose -10 to concealment and the only thing you gain is +1 movement. Anything I'm getting wrong on how bad this talent actually is?

The only reason I see is that it is the prerequisite to Unnatural Strength (x2) and Fear (1).

Ah, well I wound up setteling with my player and saying that it made weapons one size category less that he weilded (meaning basics become pistols, and heavy became basics) since this is somewhat implied in Death Watch as the Astrates weapons are one size bigger to everyone but Space Marines (who are hulking)

Notice that it doesn't work the other way around in Deathwatch/Black Crusade - mortal size basic weapons are still basic weapons for Marines.

That's reasonable, IMHO. Bigger guy, bigger guns.

That is the only reason, really.
