Bolter assault

By Tyrrell, in Deathwatch House Rules

The codex attack pattern bolter assault specifies that it applies to bolter, bolt pistol, and storm bolter (and grenades).

At rank 4 the marines can make a semi auto burst or full auto burst.

Using the errata values for bolters, do you see a problem with allwing someone who wields a heavy bolter and and has a some method of both moving and shooting in the same round (such as death from afar armor or a suspensor) from using it in the bolter assault attack pattern?

Rules as written - As a HB is full auto only the brother calling BA must be rank 4 for the HB user to benefit. Of course it doesn't mention HB as being able to benefit but you can house rule that it can if the 'caller' is rank 4 and be pretty close to the original rule.

Bring Death From Afar allows a wielder of a Heavy Weapon to move but still take the standard penalty for moving, while a wielders of Basic and Pistol class weapons get no penalty at all. -- from the errata questions thread

With just the Suspensor you do not get the bonus when moving and firing, however if you have both the Suspensor and Bring Death from afar you can move and get the auto-fire bonus. -- from the errata questions thread

I don't personally see a problem with it, mainly because the Storm Bolter is so badass. Using the errate'd weapon stats, in a bolter assault with full auto fire you could get a max of 16 hits, versus the HB's 12 (plus or minus ammo/talents, and of course you'd have to factor in that the storm bolter only gets extra hits per two DoS rather than the HB's every DoS).

The trick I have to remind my players of regularly is the whole 'you can only benefit from one squad or solo mode ability per turn' as they like to forget and try to stack things together.
