Yula, I need you by my side...

By AquaPhil07, in Tannhauser

Hi everyone,

Does someone knows if "Yula" will be available again, or is she definitely collector? preocupado.gif

Katsuyori is right, you can get the german version on amazon.de. Don't hesitate to buy her just because it's the german version, the rule booklet included is out of date and the relevant material (card and tokens) are the same as in the english version. There's only one problem: The german Yula is just as weak as the english one, so don't expect to get a powerful character!

I dare to claim the exact opposite: I believe Yula can be extremly powerful when used properly, as she can disarm immensly strong opponents by destroying their equipment. I was extremly satisfied using her abilies in my Reich team every time I fielded her. Well, may be ??! had his own bad experience here... Maybe it depends on one owns style of strategy. It´s experience vs experience here, so you should just try her yourself, then you can form your own opinion.

I have to admit Katsuyori is right again: It's experience vs. experience here. However, the relevant point is: If you really want to get Yula, you should have no problems with getting the german version via amazon.de.

I did weaken and get Yula from Amazon in Germany. The cost of postage was the main drawback but they shipped it promptly and it did arrive safely. They still have a number in stock so getting one is not a problem.

It is a model you would buy to complete the collection as it were. The ability of destroying an opponent's item is certainly unique and thus offers some options not available with any other model. I think Miah pointed out that at speed 7, she might get caught too easily and taken out. Her stats are nothing exceptional.

Thanks a lot for the link, I just bought her and a bunch of other figures ^^

i have say I like Yula MUCH more than other characters, especially more so than her counterpart Eva, who seems blah to me.

Yula's ability to destroy equipment AND have it still take up an equipment spot is HUGE. It always annoys my opponent (good for disrupting strategic planning). If the subject of Yula's attack is carefully chosen, it essentially makes that character just a trooper for that game in many cases. It doesnt have a direct effect for games where the primary objective is to complete objectives, but for all other modes it does. It always feels so good to disable a character's equipment that that player is using heavily :) and Yula is the only one that can do this.

I like Yula w/ command pack (whirlwind for an extra chance at destroying the equip) fielded with Eva w/ combat pack to maximize her killing potential.

One small gripe with her - really wish her Silencer didn't take up an equipment slot in rules as written - it should be part of her gun, no? :P

Maybe its an ZBT-079 Beta silencer that she has and not a regular one right? Thats why its an equip slot, its a ability not just thematic stuff...

And i get what you say about destroying equipments but i think most people disagre, because sometimes its just easier to take someone like our good old Barry and kill them instead of destroying equipment... Its always better then just hindering the equipment right? Ok, for her to do it, you gotta get near and then roll a 10, well Barry can almost always kill out any other figurine in 1 shoot and even some more if the opponent forget 2 of them near each other at a distance and he have a 6 in stamina too...

I always compare Yula's natural 10 ability to Eva's that is much better - at least in my opinion. Yula destroys a weapon and hinders the character, but Eva makes the character roll 2 less dice in the shock roll so she has a good chance to severely wound or even kill her target instead of just disabling a weapon.

That is right, but it strongly depends on the fact if a attacked enemy can really be killed by one single attack. The chance to slay some strong beast like Zor´ka with one blow is almost non-existent (given that she is still at full health), and Soldiers with high stats or special abilities (e.g. Barry) should also be able to survive one assault. Even a wounded barry could counter-blow Yula into pieces with his super-duper-mega-cannon, but not if this machine of raging death is destroyed, rendering him quite useless. Remember: Yula just needs one natural 10 to severly "cripple" a char by taking his favourite weapon/gear from him, but you need a quite good attack roll (followed by one bad shock rolll) to defeat an opponent in the first attack, more luck if he has some CPs left to shake off a wound or boost his stamina. Do not forget: She has also good special abilites to increase her melee attack rating per turn, effectively increasing her number of die she rolls per turn (to 10 or so; not per attack, of course, but in one turn), which means that the chance to score one mere natural 10 should be quite high.

But yes, of course, you are all totally right: slaying an opponent is far more better than just taking his gear out. I juat wanted to say that it is also more difficult to kill some special opponents so fast. So I would conclude: Use Yula for big, strong opponents who have a good chance to survive your first attack, but depend heavily on their equipment. I really think that every single character has his/her/its own worth in the game. Sometimes he/she/it simply does not fit into a players playing style or tactic, or is not so effective under special circumstances and given chars. So yes, seen from ??!´s point of view, it makes perfectly sense when he supposes her to be weak. He has a point there, especially looking at her stats...

I am already excited what Aitd07 has to say when he has tried her out.

I disagree- the effect on Morale after breaking the Magnifier, Barry's Flash Machine Gun or Iroh's Katana is way better than just killing them. Just look at your opponents face! Plus- if you break the disposable (drop-able) items, their pesky teammates won't come scavenge and make you re-live the Barry or Iroh nightmare.

I sounded like some kind of Yula fanboy here, but I am totally aware of her weaknesses: Low stats, especially stamina, and the fact that she must enter melee to do something useful.

diversionArchitect is right... I recently played against matriarchy with Yula in my team and when I destroyed Irishka's R.U.R. my opponent was really angry

I agree. It's like Hass, where his Chronograph doesn't do damage, but screwing with your opponent's head is sooo much fun!

Breaking guns, bouncing around like the game's a checker board, whipping people into shape... why are the Reich characters the most fun?

So, there's basically no chance for Yula to be reprinted, am I correct?

Do not know that. Maybe even FFG does not know at this time. No statement until now.

I don't know but I agree.

I ordered her from Germany, I'll let you all know how that works.

Everything worked fine for me. It tooks almost 2 weeks. You can track the packages progress on-line as well.
