Psychic Strength for Bound, Unbound Psykers & Daemons.

By SlumberingMage, in Black Crusade

So let me get this strait. From the way I understand this a Daemon is more likely to be injured from Perils of the Warp then a Bound or Unbound Psycher is that right? It seems a little wonky that a Daemon is more likely to cause Perils of the Warp then any other class. Hell the Unbound psycher is able to push more and has less to worry about then a Daemon?

Looks like it, but the worst results of perils just won't affect the daemon, as a daemon cannot be possessed by another daemon, and they take half damage from a lot of the weaker results. Any daemon that is REALLY powerful, like the Lord of Change and Great Unclean One, won't get perils because they don't even need to roll focus power tests, they auto pass with 1d5 DoS.

Actually, most daemons aren't even psykers and don't have psy rating, so they can't use psychic powers.

I see what you are saying but it still seems odd. Like the Perils of The Warp Psy Blast. Sure he will take half damage but if he does not have something like Leap Up then he will be taken out of combat for a round. All in all it seems odd to me that a daemon would be more likely to suffer negative consequences because he is using psychic powers. It really does not seem to fit the background fluff. Plus the fact that the daemon cannot push as much as an unbound psyker.

Doesn't seem odd to me. Daemons are creatures of the warp and the effects of the warp are stronger around them. Again, most daemonic psykers, Greater Daemons or Daemon Princes really, will pretty much ignore any roll ever on either table.

Since dameons are creature of the warp, it seems logical for me that they have troubles when acting in the material world. The increased odds fro 'perils of teh warp' being teh way the rules represent that problem.
