I bought a copy of the core game a week ago and since then got a copy of the 'Princes of the Sun' (revised) and 'Kings of the Sea' (revised). For the cost it seems the deluxe expansion seems to give you the most cards for the money. Would you suggest I continue getting the deluxe expansions or are there certain regular expansions players really should have?
Should New Player (me) Get The Deluxes Expansions First After The Core?
If you just want the best overall selection of cards and like to vary the houses you play with then I would continue with the deluxe expansions (Lords of Winter etc) as they add significant variety to the 4 core set houses.
The chapter packs are also good if you are not focusing on a particular house. Each series of 6 chapters tends to have a different focus or theme and some introduce new card mechanics (such as "Shadows" in the King's Landing cycle) with cards from each house.
The only cycle that seemed to have a house theme was Brotherhood Without Banners. Each of the 6 chapters had a slight bias to each of the 6 houses (ie "Illyrio's Gift" had more Targaryen cards)
If you are going to focus on a house then see if you can share chapters packs with another player who plays with another faction. This will help spread costs
Personally I bought everything, and shared them with two other players after we each picked 2 houses.
How are you guys finding copies of Kings of the Sea? Everywhere I look is completely sold out!
i think it depends on who your splitting the card pool with, if you have 4 people playing i think it would make sense to get 3 cores before the house expansions just because your going to want choices in your plot decks and toolbox cards.
if you do have 4 people and dont want to get more cores i would just get the 4 house expansions (lanni is out very soon) refugees of war and call it a day for now
I live in the UK and picked up Kings of the Sea by mail order from the US a few months back (I think on ebay IIRC) - the reprinted version. A friend of mine got his from a UK supplier a few weeks ago, again it was the reprinted version.
My group started off not long ago with the core set and then added the deluxe expansions and the Refugees of War chapter pack (as recommend by members on this site). I would highly recommend the deluxe expansion. I was a big fan of Targaryen and the deluxe set gave me more ideas and tools than I know what to do with.
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll probably wrap up getting the remaining deluxe expansions by the end of November then look at the chapter expansions. Did I read correctly on another topic that they are going to reprint the older chapters that only had two of each kind of card so they would have three of each.?

As I understand it, they are reprinting them AS they sell out. So the King's Landing block, the first to sell out of the ones that had 1x of some cards, has already been reprinted in 3x format and you should be able to find it. The Defenders of the North block is scheduled for the same treatment, according to the Products page. Not sure when the others will be done.
How about this for an idea. Use one of the many popular deck building websites to put together the deck that you want to play with, then buy the sets required to complete the deck. That's what I did. Then I repeated the process when I got bored with that deck.
The only house that may suffer if you just get the deluxe expansions is Greyjoy. Their initial set of cards now feels a bit under powered compared to the other expansions (unlike the Martell box!)
The Brotherhood chapter packs fix this with some excellent raider themed cards which creates a very fun deck.
