Use of Hermetica Umbra

By Horsa, in Tannhauser

In most cases just adding one dice to an attack is easy but in the case of Herzinger's equipment, are either of the following an attack or just and equipment activation, hence no additional dice?

1) Sha-Na-Ra : It is Occult and Mental but not a weapon, so is the mental dual an attack or is it an equipment activation? P.18 would imply it is as you are rolling to wound, whereas P.21 would imply it is not as it is not a weapon.

2) Patmos Amulet : It is Occult only, so I have been using this strictly as an equipment activation, not an attack. Is this correct?

Neither Sha-na-ra nor the Patmos amulet are weapons, so you don't attack with them. Therefore I don't think you get to roll the additional die.

Im with ??! on this, they are duels and not attacks, so no additional die.

In general any item that says "you may use an action to:..." Is never an attack. In the one case where I've seen otherwise, Oksana, it even says "you may use this as a special attack." So unless the text "you may use an action to:..." says it is an attack, it's not.

The Hermetica is however super badass, and I always use it. (Yula) 6 dice Krugers and (Hoss) 5 dice Aethon with a Crown... These are a few of my favorite things.

I dont use it against union, against low mental characters hermetica occulta is better IMO, you severly limit the actions of the union if they cant enter some paths.
