character scale action in starship combat

Can free action that are normally used in character scale combat to grant bonuses (like the Rogue Trader ability, Logis Implants, etc.) be used to modify extended actions, attack rolls, and other things in starship combat?

If they can, how much time do they take? Do they still allow the person granting the bonus to do an extended action of their own?

My ruling is that if the Rogue Trader is going to grant the gunner a +10 bonus then he needs to be doing that for the whole half hour (rather than just the second he hits the FIRE button). That means the RT can spend the starship turn either doing his own extended action or granting his leadership bonus thing to someone. Still, we're a new group and so like to know the author's intent before we set to house ruling.

The living errata clarifies that can be used in space combat but doesnt change the activationg time FREE ACTION, but the rogue trader must be in the same place as the target.

So I will say as long as the Rogue trader is in the same component as the target he can do another extended action, of his own.

Examples:

On the bridge the Rogue trader gives an inspiring speech "Put your Backs Into it! " while the void master pilots the ship into an "evasive maoubre" the rougue trader could use his ability to boost the Void master.

But only him not the Missionary the Explorator that is on the bridge also controling the auspex, because its limited to one target per strategic round.

In the next round if he wants to motivate the missionary doing "triage" the rogue trader should move to the barracks and he could perform there a "Prepare to repel the boarders" action but not a Manoubre action or hailing an enemy ship, or other bridge related actions.

Is that supposed to be a special case or a general rule? It answers most of the questions for Rogue Traders, but there are other quick bonuses (like the Logis Implant) as well. Are they all usuable at starship scale, and can the character do something else (like an extended action) for 29 minutes and 55 seconds, then trigger one of these abilities to apply the bonus to an extended action?
