Skill "Hard Target" - how does it work?

By arkenfels, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Hi Everyone

Didn`t find anything via search....

Rules about Hard target say: Penalty of -20BS for enemies who fire at you when you charge or run. (DH Rulebook Page 116)

Rules also say that if you run opponents get penalty of -20BS when you run. (DH Rulebook Page 192)

So I see two ways to handle the skill:

1: It only gives you the benefit of the -20 BS penalty for your opponents if you charge. And of course you get the same benefit whilst running like anybody else.

2: It grands you -20BS penalty for opponents when you charge and additional -20BS penalty if you run.

I would prefer option 2, otherwise it would be a very weak skill. Especially compared to the cost which is 200xp in most advanced schemes, as far as I know.

The penalties are cumulative, for a grand total of -40 :)

a good talent indeed.

Cleric in my group does it all the time. When using Sprint he's impossible to hit and impossible to catch.

I hope he does this TOWARDS the enemy? What sort of Priest of the Imperium would run AWAY from the Emperors enemies, after all? lengua.gif

Not that running gives opponents a bonus to WS tests, and Hard target does not change this. Of course, you have to able to reach him to grab him, but that's another matter gui%C3%B1o.gif

thanx for your answers so far. very helpful.
