If I have a unique character duped, and through a mechanic he is to be put back into the shadows (example: Syrio Forel), is that dupe discarded? And if so is that card in the shadows now trapped since he cannot come back into play due to the version of him in the discard pile?

EDIT: NVM, i didnt realize discard didnt preclude unique cards from being played again. I thought it was same as dead pile in that respect.
