They Shall Not Cross

Text: Stark only. Response: Save a location from being discarded. Then, attach They Shall Not Cross to a Stark character (counts as a Boon attachment with the text 'Attached character gets +2 STR.').

So is this 'discarded from play' or discarded from your hand as well? I only ask because other cards explicitly say 'from play' like Narrow Escape. If it is to mean discarded from anywhere then I could use this card as a save for the claim of an intrigue challenge et al ? If so I assume that the saved location goes back to its point of origin after being saved (either back to your hand or back to play..) ?

"From play" is often used as a clarifier, especially if, like Narrow Escape, the cards in question are being moved somewhere after leaving play. But "saved from being discarded" almost never specifies "from play," because the basic assumption is that things are always "from play" unless otherwise specified.
