What would you play and why

By YokuniCat, in Rogue Trader

Personally, I have a special fondness for Explorators, Navigators and Seneschals. They get to do all the fun, cerebral stuff and leave the untidy things such as fighting to the lowly knaves :)

Explorator: Go full-on Genetor. Medical mechadendrite, optic mechadendrite and, if Black Crusade is allowed, the delicious new implants from there. You get to be the resident Qyburn. Doubly-so if you go for Willpower and Interrogate.

Astropath: Mind-screwing, man. You can brainwash people, read their minds, control them like puppets. If you can think of it, then you can probably do it.

Seneschal: Faff about and do the plotting and commerce of the group. You get to be the Rogue Trader's (un)trustworthy advisor.

It is not that he has forbade me, just that he doesnt want a TPK if he wants to take me down as an explorator. So I decided I would be a missionary Astropath Trascendent, it is not as daunting for him to begin with.

He worked for GW for a long time and likes the idea of running Rogue Trader, he has GM'd a lot of games. Me and him swap the mantle a lot. I am just not sure he understands the epicness of RT. Not a swipe at him but everyone needs to learn.

EMPs, dude. Easiest way to take down bionic'd blokes (for that matter, a manifestation of Tech-Scorn when a psyker mucks up works just as well). Unless you go for Good/Best quality pieces and/or deliberately get augmetics that have been EMP shielded, you're going to be the only person Stunned/Helpless when you're caught in the burst (and, if your heart and lungs have been replaced, you may well be in serious trouble).

Since I am the only GM in WH40k I would like to play anyone, but saddly in my small SF/Fantasy/RPG community I'm the Warboss cool.gif of WH40k.

Explorator - badass character, strong comatant (Best Craftsmanship bionic arms with inbuilt mono-blades with toxic qualty and Hellgun [wery kill 'umie]), technological experts with variety of talents skills and a pet(Servo Skull) and can go to battle with Servitors under his control(it hurts). To sum up great all-around characters. Little over the the top but in ROUGE TRADER are only over the top characters that can see the the sun of every other system every other day.

Navigator - when I want to be all sneaky when figthing, interogating, looking for ships in space or making sure that we reach the destination in warp it is great character for anyone that want to make little mischief in the Expanse. Using the Liddles Stare in combat is great, it can work as supresive fire for large area imposing enemies BS for they could not aim and would have to shoot from cover not seeing targets(yeah again over the top but that power works like this all the time when the Naviagor opens his Third Eye) would make combat easy.

Astropath - brain killer, great advisor, and what's more can't be blinded. Most of them have access to top shelf equipment. wonderfull character when you like to play the all brain no brawl type. Not keen on playing him. But let it stop someone.

I would choose Naigator, more chalanging character. But Explorator (Iron Priest) is very tempting choice.

Your GM didn't allow you to play TP? He's sick in the head (not fantasy/sf/rpg sick but realy sick in the head) or what. I don't even know hot comment this. I know from expirence that in Warhammer Fanasy RPG GM's (at least that I know) don't allow creating part'y with elves, human's, dwarf's, gnome's half-something, since it is unrealistic for the universum, but this is... wrong simply wrong.

Good luck on your Carer Path.

From the list you've given, I would have to go with Explorator. Amongst all the careers I have to say I am most appealed by the idea of knowing things (Adept/Seneschal) or building things (Tech-Priest/Explorator.) Though having the ability to make and manage huge immeasureable gobs of money slants things towards the Seneschal in my mind. Plus, while I admit I prefer the loremaster and merchant aspects of the class more, being a Battle Butler comes in handy as well.

But out of your choices, the Explorator is a good pick. You get the best parts of Spock and Scotty in one character, as the others have said you can be a beast in combat (which makes a bit of sense as the Explorator is supposed to spend long periods of time away from the rest of the Mars Priesthood.)
