So I was just wondering if anyone out there enjoyed the idea of adding a certain level of musical additions to their games just to enhance the level of fun and/or dread to be experienced with the players. I know I definately have my own playlist to enhance things, and was curious if anyone else had some other tracks of their own they would like to share.

Resurection Waltz (also from Hellraiser)

Saturn - The Bringer of Old Age from Holst's "The Planets"

Neptune - The Mystic, once again from "The Planets"

Silent Hill Soundtracks! Great idea.

I usually use a combination of
- Call of Cthulhu Videogame / P&P Soundtracks (there are several people providing ambient music)
- some tracks from the Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption and Bloodlines soundtrack (both available w/ the PC games)
- if everything fails/the story demands: www.rainymood.com and cheap equalizer tricks to simulate "you are indoors, rain is outside"
combined with era-appropriate music.

So in MoM I run Jazz (big band, bebop, dixie, whatever I see fit) silently in the background, sometimes with short breaks so the ambient is clearly audible. I also have a small number of tracks that start looping the last couple of seconds after about a minute, simulating a broken vinyl. Don't use those too often, though, as 5 minutes of the same couple of sounds repeated over and over again is *really* unsettling

Love this topic. I have a specific MoM mix for whenever we play. It totally adds to the mood. And Avec you get points for bringing Nick Cave into this.

Oh, also in the vein of period era appropriate (yet in this case a bit comically timed music) I fully reccomend the track "White Ghost Shivers" by New Orleans Owls. A vaguely creepy prohibition dixieland jazz tune that works moderately well I think...

If your team of investigators happens to have someone who plays one of them with a wry/dry humor bend like my group does this is a kind of fun track to have in the playlist for them. Besides, the irony of having such a fun and lightly macabre tune playing while they're being confronted by dire horrors of a terrible nature is just ironic enough to be worthy I think.
