Minions & Traits = faulty (?)

By Gregorius21778, in Black Crusade

Hi there,

I aqcuired my copy of BC over the weekend at the "SPIEL" in Essen (germany).

While I see the new rules as an overall improvement (myself is an DH GM and starts dislike the rules more and more and more...), I see some faults in the Minion rules. Regarding the Traits.

Their are traits available at a range (like the Hower or Machine traits) but their is now reason for a player to take the lower end of the scale. Why so? You ALWAYS try to get the best of a deal!

On the other hand, their are traits that are actully downsided but one would have to purchase. I am mainly talking about the Bestial Trait here. Yes, it is stylish to give this Trait to your ChaosHound. But spending a valid option for it? Not really, right?

Since everythings needs a GM aproval, this things work finde as rough guidelines... but as soon as everyone got some experience with this and his/her brain around the stuff enough to make houserules for "the trait thing"..let me know!

Thanks

I've made som houserules that adress these issues. You should be able to see the thread about them here on the first page..

I was under the impression that if you wanted to take a trait to its maximum you have to take it enough times to get it there.

Player: "I want unnatural perception 4."

GM : "Ok that's 4 traits you just burned, what else do you want?"

Unfortunately no. Unnatural perception (+4) counts as just one trait under the official rules.

Yup. You can take it to the maximum stated level with one trait selection, and you can push it further (barring any other limiters) by giving up your other trait selections.
