Abhumans / Abhuman Art

By Fgdsfg, in Rogue Trader

I'm working on a little project to mock-up some pages with rules for abhumans. Specifically, Ratlings, Ogryns, Squats and Beastmen.

I have a problem, though. I cannot find any high-quality art. I have not looked much at the others, since I'm starting with Beastmen. And I swear, there are virtually no good art of them, in 40k. Anyone seen anything or sitting on a treasure trove of good images or something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

just google it,, this is what i got for beastmen art result: otherwise just check out all the old books,, slaves to darkness, rogue trader, legion of the damned,,,, oh, and i always liked ian miller http://www.google.dk/search?q=ian+miller&hl=da&prmd=imvnso&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=Z2ilTuKcGK3O4QTP6siwBA&ved=0CFMQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=909

Well, I couldn't really find any good art for any abhumans, let alone beastmen. After thinking about it, I decided to simply drop the beastmen abhumans and go ahead with the Squat, Ogryn and Ratling rules. I don't really have enough material to fill two full pages per "homeworl", so instead I chose to boil it all down to a page each, without art (instead of ~2 pages each, with art).

Sources used: Lexicanum, Warhammer 40k Wikia, Heresypedia.

Squat Page:

Any and all input on this would be appreciated. Possibly making the Ogryn and Ratling pages in the next few days or earlier.

If you are cool with using non-40K sources there's a hell of a lot of fantasy dwarves, beastmen and ogers from both whfb and other sources which would work quite well. It's always been a pain in the ass to find any decent halfling or rattling models and art for some reason. No love for the little folk!

Also that pdf looks absolutely fantastic what program did you use to create it??

Doing an Image Search of "Beastmen" brings up a bunch of photos of minis, but if you dig through them, you can find a few good drawings/paintings.

And, for the record, you know that "beastmen" haven't been considered "abhuman" since the first edition of WH40K , right? Back then, I think they were supposed to represent troops genetically enginered from livestock to defend under-rescourced frontier worlds, but from the second edition on they are considered Chaos Mutants.

I found no suitable. Lots and lots of good Warhammer Fantasy and good Chaos Beastmen, but none that would suit my needs.

I wasn't entirely sure how early they were phased out and such, but yes, I am aware that they haven't been a part of the game(s) since early on, just like I know that Squats have been phased out. Beastmen were considered stable mutations, just like all other abhuman. They were part of penal legions, atoning for the sin of being born as mutants, and worshiped the Emperor as a god of war and bloody sacrifice.

It's all on ice at the moment though. Whether I get around to Beastmen or not, it'll likely be the last thing I do.

Very well done so far!
