Moritat and Grenades

By Angel of Death, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

A question, can a Moritat us a Frag as edged weapon? Or well not "brake the disdain many modern weapons as crude and spiritually unfulfilling, preferring instead the sacred edge of the blade."

I'm asking because I have the idea for a "Holy Hand Grenade" with a Mono edged Frag.

I would say no seeing as when I think of a edge weapon I'm thinking of it as a sword, knife, etc.. But if you work with your GM it could work for you.

I would suggest raising the cost by some reasonable multiple (x3? x5? x10?), raising the rarity a few notches, to represent the lengths a Moritat will go to stick with the proper weaponry.

That is to say, the cost and difficulty of finding a frag grenade designed in a way that still pleases the love of edged weaponry, and which could spiritually fulfill.

A grenade of Fractal Blade chips? =P

I interpreted it as a dislike of anything technologically advanced and a preference rather than a requirement for it to have an edge i.e. a club would be fine (no tech) but a shuriken catapult wouldn't (definitely edged but too much tech). IMO an explosive grenade mono edged or not would be in the "crude and spiritually unfulfilling" category.

Edit: Just reread the part about WP tests for anything lacking an edge; I should probably read the book first and then post. I'd still stick with the grenade being a little bit out of character though.

I suppose you have to ask yourself a question: Do grenades have sharp edges? No, they don't. Grenades don't cut things, they fling bits of shrapnel and create concussion waves. Neither of which are sharp.

my idea was for something like this

with each pre planned shrapnel piece sharpened and mono so it will cut though enemies protection, but it was a long shot. And I had to get otherviews

I say this has to be decided by following the most important rule in all 40k-gaming: The Rule of Cool.

Would razorsharp slivers shot by a grenade cause bloodletting enough in the name of the emperor? Will it help if the shrapnel is shaped as tiny aquilas?

Or should the Mortiat be a reactionary and creepy kind of assassin? The one that thinks that the blood looses it's redeeming qualities unless you catch the spray fresh from the arteries? If so, it would be a terrible waste to shed blood from afar.

So, compare the two views (and most likely a few more) and discuss with your gaming group which one fels more Cool.

Each Holy Hand Grenade should have the smallest sliver of the Emperor's sword, to parallel Terminator armor. ;P

think i would let them use a Nail Bomb as can see that working
