(question) force fields and psychic powers

By jack_px, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

i have a question about this, does force fields protects againts powers like dominate? (not direct attacks psychic power i mean), and, about the dominate power, when you are dominate, do you get a willpower test every 10 rounds(for the sustain power i mean)?, if for some reason the target get out of the range of the power, does he break free? if not, how can you break free? xDDD

thanks in advance.

Depends on the Force Field. Some help against Psychic Powers (Jokaerian, Terminator Armor build in, ...) when its explicitly stated. Most dont. They only help against bodily attacks.

Meh, no edit function.

* about the dominate power, when you are dominate, do you get a willpower test every 10 rounds(for the sustain power i mean)?, *

No, only once at the start.

* if for some reason the target get out of the range of the power, does he break free? *

Yes, Power stops working then. But should be relatively hard, as the Psyker who hexed you also knows this and would try not to let this happen.

yeah very good power indeed. I mean, an acolite then can have no actions in a combat if he's dominated xD.

about the force fields, what about the ones in ascencion, the only thing that they say is that if you are attacked you must roll a d100. So, does powers like dominate count as an attack?

Force Fields are Force Fields.

What Force Fields in the Ascencion are you talking about?

Not in this case, they count as a psychic power. If a force field doesn't explicitly say it works on a psychic power... then it doesn't work on a psychic power. If it does, it does so against every hostile power used against the person carrying it.

Rules for Force Fields were first published in the Inquisitor´s Handbook. But their rules were a) clumsy to use b)not fitting the fluff from the tabletop rules and from the other lore of WH40k Force Fields. These rules later got the "squats-treatment" and were never mentioned again, but instead new rules how Force Fields work were published. The new rules are better to use in combat and fit the fluff of the WH40k lore. One place where the new Force Field rules appear is in the Ascension book. There the Rosarius, Refractor Field and so on got a new rules under the guise of "variant" or "from other Forgeworld" description.
