Still just playing around with the basic rules and I was wondering if enemy units restrict oppossing units movement thru adjacent spaces? For instance, could a unit move thru and beyond a one space gap between enemy units.

Yup, perfectly legal. There are no "zone of control" rules with BattleLore. If one wants to impede the opposition's movement, occupying the hexes is the only way to do it.
