Found: the Final Resting Place of Tiber Achilus!

By LETE, in Deathwatch Gamemasters

Hello!

Dunno if this has been noticed before...

In the Black Crusade RPG corebook there's a place within the warpstorm which is the nominal setting for the game called the Anathema by the locals. It's a region of pure "stable" space, shunned & loathed by all chaotics worth their corruption, said to contain/come into being by been "the final resting place of a great imperial hero" (in so many words).

Mayhap this be the place where General Achilus is? Or Saint Drusus?

L

Well, I for one am glad you noticed this...as a lot of this Achillus stuff bothers me...interference of the vile eldar and all that...although, whenever I hear of glacial calm in the Warp I immediately think of Necrons.... llorando.gif

Hi!

Unfortunately for everyone, except the GM, the Necrons are very active in Black Crusade's setting. They've already awoken & are getting known. I believe if it was Necrons they would spell it (the authors)... Why conceal other Necron stuff?

L

hehehe...yes, unfortunate, that...so, yer sayin' that, whatever is causing this calm spot you mentioned is NOT necrons, as the Chaos boys 'n girls already know of the necrons...interesting....so somebody else is out there with Chaos-calming tech/abilities.....very interesting....thanx for the head's up, brother!

Oh, and just where in the wh40k universe is the BC game set? (physically, I mean....if necrons are active, it'd be helpful to know just where in the galaxy this is occurring) Thanx again!

From what I gather, it is also set in the Calixis Sector. Although everything seems to revolve around the eye of terror.

To the best of my knowledge, The Necrons did make an appearance in the Emperor Protects. Its just that the Imperium has yet to make contact with them. Says in the supplementary material that the first time the Xenos would attack in full force would be bout 50 years later than the current time setting in DW.

The Eldar have always been active in the WH40k world. I was rather suprised when I didn't see the Eldar mentioned in the DW core book. However I do notice that Chaos would always have the Eldar to thank for Slaanesh. Although Necrons wise, how Chaos came to contact with them beats me.

Hi!

BC's nominal "setting" is the Screaming Vortex! (a huge warpstorm in the Koronus Expanse, the other being the Void Dancer's Roil), which comprise the so called "Maw" to the Expanse... This is all in the Rogue Trader nominal setting! I guess, we're all connected, like some say...

The Dark Eldar are quite active in the Screaming Vortex & the Expanse. BC has statsfor the lot... plus Harlequins!

Excellent! Thank you both!!

"...plus harlequins..." Well, that just pisses me off no end.... gui%C3%B1o.gif

So, there are necrons active in the Screaming Vortex (which forms part of the 'warp wall' dividing Calixis from Koronus, and is one half of the 'jaws' comprising the Maw) - good to know!

Well, given that the Necrons are a classic Eastern Fringe threat, I guess we've figured out who built the Warpgate....now, just what the heck have they been doin/are planning to do waay out past the Terrible Eye? I assume the C'tan have no prophetic/future-reading abilities....so they wouldn't have known 60 million yrs ago that Chaos would erupt in this particular region of space.....so, why are they here? why are they active? Indeed, why was Cadia littered with necron pylons? Thoughts? Ideas? Drug-addled theories?

And have there been any further hints as to Achillus's relationship with the Eldar? (I ask cause i'm a canon-stickler, which is tricky business in the grimdark, and I like my games to be as consistent as possible with what is 'out there') (and I ask cause i've seen very little data regarding eldar in the Reach, and i hesitate to introduce them if the game is just gonna monkeywrench my plans again...not that I'm bitter or anything, no no gui%C3%B1o.gif )

A haunting question that has been eating at me Zappiel. The Gateway connecting to the Calixis sector seems to sound more like an Eldar warp gate. Does not seem like the phasing technology employed by the Necrons. Is it certain that the Necrons were the ones who built it? If they are the ones who constructed the Warp Gate, what are their plans?

There has been no mention of Eldar activity in DW (if memory serves me correct). The only mentioned Eldar was the captive detailed in RoB, who/which has helped the Deathwatch thwart Eldar activities in the Jericho reach. But other than that, there has not been any mention of any Eldar or Eldar involvement whatsover (seeing as to their enigmatic presence).

Any ideas anyone?

Hi!

They're too busy in the Koronus Expanse/Screaming Vortex? beso.gif

I'm confused by your post: if this Warp Gate is of Eldar origin, why aren't there any of 'em around (like you said)? Or is this precisely what you ask in your post? sonrojado.gif

(Upon close inspection of the Warp Gate's description I would also concur that the artefact is of Eldar origin...)

Actually, in Achilus Assault, it does mention that Eldar activity is increasing around the planets of the Dark Pattern, and there is the bio of an Eldar assassin in the book as well.

Hello again, gentlemen! So, I've not read any eldar novels (if any exist); therefore, I'm not entirely sure what eldar warpgates look like (I always kinda assumed they were more or less non-visible, and built of wraithbone). What features of the big Warpgate lead you to believe in an eldar origin?

So, it seems the eldar are gearing up to take down Chaos...Achillus must figure into their plans and, I strongly assume, shall return. Presumably at the head of an eldar force. Or perhaps to woo the Imperium onto the eldar's side. Either way, spells trouble for the Crusade...loyalties will divide...

This one.

AFTBRN, serio.gif but, if I recall correctly, some parts of the gate are described as "corroded," & seem to be made of this "material," underneath.

i recall a mention somewhere that it is (partially?) constructed out of some sort of stone? Is that right?
