Greetings, I got questions!

By BernieTerminator, in Dust Tactics

Hey guys, I'm so glad a game like this came out. Here are my questions:

1) Is dust tactics based(kinda) off of At-43

2) My local store carries all the products, but how do I determine points after buying the core set?

Other than that I aint got nothing. I guess I can tell ya' about me'self. I started off with at-43, then I got into some warhammer. I still play warhammer but I am going to get into Dust tactics. I am about to have a birthday and I'll 15. for my b'day i'm thinking of getting some Historical mini's. I'm about to sell my space marines to get more Dust tactics minis!

Oops, wrong forum. I meant to post this is the "Dust Warfare" forum!

* Whispers * pst ,I think your safe here.

I do have a question bout models though. I guy at the store told me that axis are pure shooters no cc, and allies are exact opposite. Can anyone elaborate? This guy acted like a know it all, sheesh he hadn't even bought any mini's yet, not even the core set. Also, do I need to buy the revised cards?

You don't need the revised cards to play the game you got--it works just fine. If you're going to go to game stores & get games with other people, or expand and play beyond the box, the revised cards are a good idea. You can find 'em online for $10 or so.

As for what that guy said: I'm pretty new to DT myself, but the game is very shooty-heavy on both sides. Each side does different things, but I definitely wouldn't categorize it as "shooting vs. close combat".

Your new 'friend' didn't know what he was talking about.

The Allies have more shooting units with limited range than the Axis, but they put out serious damage at short range. The Axis normal human infantry have no units without assault rifles, but they also have more units that are only close combat (Gorillas and Zombies vs Hammers). The Allies have multiple units with shotguns and flamethrowers for heavy short range firepower, while the Axis only has one unit type with a flamethrower and assault rifles and a flamethrower hero. Both sides have 3 units with range 1 or less (close combat is also range 1, but handled a bit differently).

The Allies have several units with range equal to the Axis, but they have more units with limited range yet powerful shooting attacks. You can play an Allied force with all units having range equal to the Axis, or play with some serious short ranged attacks.

Hand to hand is pretty close to even, especially when shooting can do so much before the melee. The Allied close combat only unit is very fast with jump packs, while the Axis are not quite as fast for the gorillas and zombies.

Neither force only has one effective build, so you can vary what you use to make life more interesting without penalizing yourself any more than you want to or are comfortable with.

Skipping the heroes and walkers, for the majority of soldiers in the unit; the Allies have 1 unit with range 6, 7 with range 4, 1 with range 3, 2 with range 1, and 1 close combat only.

The Axis have 1 unit with range 6, 8 with range 4, 1 with range 3, and 2 close combat only.

The variety is different enough to notice and base tactics on, but both sides give a reasonable spread of unit types and abilities.

You don't need the revised cards at all as the only difference is the points values and come with a couple of errors.

This is what I thought, the guy was a know it all. I like both nations. I escpecially like the look of the panzer walkers, but the allies' grim reapers are amazing looking.
