I will be attempting to do this shortly with a bud of mine who lives cross country from me. The idea being we each have a webcam focused on our playfields. Has anyone else tried this and if so do you have any tips?

You're better off using "OCTGN" (see Gualdo's post/signature), a program which allows you to play over the internet. It doesn't check rules etc - it's essentially just a virtual table with some versatile draw/flip/kneel etc functionality, and makes it easy to read cards!

Helps to be on skype/vent to chat with the person you're playing with, of course.
