we need a new faqs

Indeed, Contested Village should have been restricted instead of Forge...

As Derricksburg Forge is just a better Contested Village, I lulzed a little.

The restriction of both Derricksburg and Rodriks will have little to no effect due to at least TWO new fast economy cards in the current cycle.

You could simply replace Derricksburg with Sons of Coin and/or Imperial Zoo... same problem will exist with the Empire until the next FAQ comes out, which will undoubtedly restrict those cards... ad infinitum.

On a side note, the bigger problem seems to be there is a lack of sufficient playtesting before they're finalised and hit the printers.

This is unfortunately true. I fear, after seeing only 3 cards from the imperial battlepack, from which 2 are very strong, that this restriction will give players a breath only until empire battlepack comes out. Still it's easier to remove Sons of Coin (one unit card), than two Derricksburg Forges (two support cards). Imperial Zoo is another stupid card, but at least it doesn't have 1 loyalty. We will have to wait and see.

I think that Sons of Coin and Imperial Zoo were designed to replace and balance Derricksburg Forge. Which would also explain why they took so long to come out with the new FAQ.

So now all we have to do is wait until they come out with a substitute for Sorcerer of Tzeentch and Offering to Hekarti before they restrict those cards.

Also, there are not enough cards yet for every faction to have their own strong theme deck.

Speaking of other options rather than restricting letters:
Another possibility has been discussed in the Spanish forum, was to change the cards finally restricted adding the trait of limited , to prevent more than one may be played per turn (including the contested village in this limitation)

dont think this can be a solution for the great starters of empire decks, and limit the possibility of put in play more than one RR per turn?

At least we have the option that, later in time, some cards from the restricted list will get out of that list and be freely playable.

FFG seems unwilling to errata cards unless absolutely necessary. They didnt even correct the spelling mistakes in Traits like Calvary and Sorcerer.

Well since it's a living card game and there is no "formats" like in MTG I expect more and more cards on restricted list. BUT there is a thing which could make those cards still playable (for example Wilhelm of the Osterknacht is currently banned not restricted, noone chooses it).

Soon there should be 2 restricted card list and ppl could chose one card from EACH restricted list :-) I think this should prevent from creating 2 cards deadly combinations.

FFG shouldn't restrict or even ban any card in this game because that means they are selling faulty product.

Take Visit a Haunted City as an example. Somebody buys Omens of Ruin for this card only (or at least he says that way). Then FFG ban this card and a player can demand from FFG a cash return cause he can feel duped. And this is not a joke.

You fell trolled, because FFG restriced Empire just when you've bought an imperial deck? lengua.gif

I would rather see cards restricted than sell whole collection because game became unplayable. As I understand blizzard owes me money for my copy of Starcraft 2, because it got patched..., which means it's a faulty product.

Visit the Haunted City is banned ON TOURNAMENTS ONLY. Even then you can organize a tournament where it will be allowed.

Even with new restricted cards Empire is still good enough :D And I still play DE/Skaven/Undead deck.

What I mean is a general thought that such a situation shouldn't happen as it limits the use of product you bought.

Starcraft example isn't great as patches don't limit your play :P

actually starcraft s a great example because say i like a strong unit that now becomes unplayable that is similar to the banned/restricted list and besides that only in offical games if ur friends are cool with it you can still use vthc

Oh Danielo, Danielo... :-)

I do belive that Warhammer will have a lot of bann and restricted cards in the future. And I am not sad about it. Why? Because it's rather impossible to NOT make a mistake while creating so many cards. A creator of this game (Lucas atm) cant actually predict all links between all cards :) And please note that it's not a MTG where in T2 you got a limited card base. I am really happy that FFG watch over this game :)

Restricting 5 cards from a single deck, banning one, is not a matter of "can not predict every card link", it's clearly a design fail.

You cant blame current designer for cards like mining tunnels, derricksburg forge or Rodrick (as far as i know). THere where not enough play testing back then. I know that this time it's better playtesting.

For example mining tunnels will be ok if it would have 2 loyality points instead of one. I do expect a Hemmler on restricted list some day. It's way to powerfull ofr it's 5 EE cost :) Atm Empire isnt so strong as it used to be, still I think there should such a overpowered card anyway.

So why Mining Tunnels/Derricksburg Forge don't have 2 loyalty cost at the very beginning?

You are saying that play testing is better now - yeah surely you can see it with when FFG release Call of Reserves and Osterknacht Elite when Rodrik wasn't restricted...

Not to mention VTHC quest - I was stunned when I saw what they did release. Surely play testing should be already strongly developed back then.

Don't you see there is something wrong? It's like: OK buy this battlepack because it has excellent card(s) in it, you buy this and then within few months FFG come back with - 'sorry, releasing this was a mistake, we restrict/ban this but thanks for buying that battlepack anyway. And come here - we have new b'pack with another must have card you should buy... ' and so on, so on we can dance to this tune...

Daniello you should start a formal petition to unban Visit the Haunted City.

I'm sure many empire players will support it gui%C3%B1o.gif

I'm not blaming Lucas, but maybe FFG for not testing their cards enough (lots of people left the game behind when skaven rush was so powerfull it was boring playing against).

And the rest will stab me with some blunt object. No thank you :D

Generally what I'm trying to say is as a customer buying the product somebody might feel doped that's all.

As for legal procedures do you remeber the case of woman who sued McDonald for burning herself with hot coffee which she didn't know it's hot and McDonald didn't warn her about that? Similar story might be here - look you did restrict/ban cards however you didn't mention this practise might hapen when I was buying cards:D

Its not like FFG is coming to your home and tearing up your restricted cards. The banned/restricted list is only for their official events, you can play with whatever cards you want at all other times.

And as a casual player, that's exactly what I'm considering doing. Up until now I've observed all restrictions. But specially with the prospect that more cards will be put on the list in the future, I'm starting to see no reason to observe them anymore. I would really hate to see more cards restricted everytime a new FAQ comes out. So, as long as the games are still enjoyable, I won't worry about it.

Buhahhahaha... Show me someone who will want to play against the restricted cards when he knows they are restricted. Especially when I want to play with someone from local club (even a non-tournament game).

Daniello: once destro lover - now empire whiner. Curse of the blue cards!

Instead give us an example of a good LCG/CCG that have neither ban list nor restricted list.

Banning / restricted card list are somehow "essential" for a good living CCG/LCG game. Or just ask for a fixed game with no more new cards over time.

Giving some strong constraint to make all created card to be balanced just make creation of new cards boring and so on the game himself boring.

I totally agree with you, Mamut!

And I want to say just one thing more: ban & restricted list could be ignored by players if they feel it's not fair (because they bought cards they can't use).

Everyone can play at home with friends or organise un-official tournanents without ban and restricted list, it's mandatory only if you want to join to official circuit...

But if you want to play an official competition, you have to respect more rules, made to find a better balancing between factions

The problem is the speed with FFG releases their battlepacks. Every month. It's nice to have some new cards but on the other hand you don't have a time to test them correctly.

I would prefer to get battlepack every two months if that would allow to release non-broken cards for any race.

And I still love my DE sneaky bastichs with their dirty tricks but if for some reason FFG restrict Offering to Hekarti I might get mad :D

P.S. Could anyone tell me why Soul Stealer is still restricted card?
