I'm pleased to announce our second finalist for the 2008 Warhammer Fantasy Scenario Contest. We received a lot of entries, and the three finalists should be extremely proud to rise to the top of the number of excellent entries received. I’d like to thank everyone who did participate in the contest - I enjoyed reading the wide variety of scenarios and ideas, especially to see how creative and thematic the entries could be given the tight deadline and submission guidelines.
Scenario Contest Finalist #2:
The Nine Virtues of Magnus the Pious
By The Badlands Rabble
The Badlands Rabble (comprised of Nenad Kostić, Dejan Mandić, Svebor Midžić, and Darinka Pop Mitić) produced one of several group efforts we received for the scenario contest. One quick look is all it takes to realize that they really invested a lot of time and effort into the submission.
Here is their introduction to the Nine Virtues adventure:
Welcome to The Nine Virtues of Magnus the Pious, a WFRP scenario for players still in their first careers. It is ideal as a campaign opener, since it gives GM opportunity to bunch together PCs from all sorts of careers. If you are planning to run this adventure for more experienced players, all you need to do is accordingly adjust the strength of opposition.
The adventure takes place in the city of Wolfenburg during the first siege of Chaos led by warlord Surtha Lenk in the year 2521. It will take PCs on a quest through the streets of ravaged city, bring them face to face with the horrors of chaos and offer them possible salvation from the besieged city.
What immediately impressed the judges about the Nine Virtues of Magnus the Pious was the production value. This entry was by far the most “polished” in terms of professional layout, look and feel. And the excellent scenario is worth the treatment.
We also liked the fact that the adventure took place in a very interesting time and place - smack dab in the middle of a city under siege, during a tumultuous time for the Empire. The scenario creates a nice sense of tension.
The adventure is accompanied by a great deal of original art produced by members of the submission team, as well as a series of well conceived maps and handouts to assist the GM in running the adventure.
Congratulations to the Badlands Rabble – as one of the finalists, you may be selected as the ultimate winner of the 2008 Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Scenario Contest!
