Anyone having experience with solo play?

By mr.thomasschmidt, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Hi.

I'm thinking of buying either WI:LCG, CoC:LCG of AGoT. The thing is I don't have anyone to play with. I have the LORTR:LCG and think it's great but I'd like to have one more. I don't know if I'll get Star Wars.

So is there anyone who has good experience/a good way to play W:I solo? I'd be most interested :)

WH:I is a two player game, but buy a core set and try to play it with friends. You will like it much more than any other of mentioned games :)

Solo play is tough because you know all the cards of your opponent. Perhaps you could make one side the protagonist and play it as you would in a normal game, and then devise some random nature to your opponents moves to take your judgement out of his plays. Be it with dice to decide on tactic/support/unit inclination, or control/power inclination or something like that (Im sure role playing gamers could come up with something reasonably sound). Perhaps also shuffle in the opponents hand each turn to keep your protagonist unawares of his hand. Your protagonsit would likely have the advantage from all this, so maybe balance it by increasing the health of the opponents zones, or the power he starts with in his K/Q zones. ...Not sure if this would work at all, was just off the top of my head....It might jsut be easier to coax a friend in to playing with you :) Good luck!

I've done this on occasion, when I felt like playing the game, but didn't have anyone around to play it with. It's amusing, but far from the real experience of playing against another opponent. As mentioned before, you pretty much know what the other deck has as in it's hand and also it's strengths and weaknesses. It's also a bit draining because you are thinking for two decks instead of just one. And inevitably, there will be one deck that you favor over the other and you tend to play harder with it, even if you are being as impartial as you can with both. All in all, it's something that you can do once in a while, if you are so inclined, but it's simply not satisfying or compelling enough to do long term or exclusively. There's a reason the game is designed to be PvP.
