New players silly question

By spaceman stewie, in A Game of Thrones LCG

The plot card titled ' Condemmed by the realm' it says "When revealed, choose an opponent, Then, that opponent must choose and kill a character that he or she does NOT control, if able"

I read that as the opponent you pick could kill one of my characters .... is that correct?

Yep! Some of the Core Set plots are meant specifically for multiplayer games. Several of them--the three Mutual plots, for example--don't do anything in a 2-player game. Condemned by the Realm is actively a terrible choice in joust. (It can still be risky in melee, but at least the opponent chosen has plenty of options.)

Thanks for your help Alpha.

As Alpha said, it's designed for multiplayer games, where it can be a great bargaining tool, and helpful if one player is threatening to run away with the win. You'd obviously try to avoid playing it at a time when you are in the lead or have a very threatening character on the board.

Don't accidentally leave it in your jack-of-all-trades deck after a melee game and then have to play it in a joust game. That's never fun.

D'oh!

Unless you have No Use for Grief in hand, 3 influence and the Red Viper as your only character on board...

That would be the best thing ever.

But sadly, it's very unlikely.
